Eerste elektrische bussen van HTM rijden vanaf zondag

De nieuwe elektrische bus van de HTM die vandaag is gepresenteerd ruikt nog helemaal nieuw. Toch is hij al uitputtend getest. Ook op het novum om in een lijnbus iemand in een zware rolstoel te laten meerijden.
Als Salma Belmoussa in haar rolstoel de bus inrijdt om de maidentrip van de schone bus mee te maken, verloopt dat vlekkeloos via het uitklapbare ‘bruggetje’. Alleen de techniek om de rolstoel ín de bus vast te zetten, hapert. Jaap Bierman, algemeen directeur van de HTM, baalt ervan als een stekker. ,,We hebben dit twee dagen getest jongens en nu dit.”
Hij biedt zijn excuses aan Salma aan en laat een tweede bus naar het parkeerterrein van het Zuiderstrandtheater in Scheveningen komen. Salma moet en zal meerijden in het nieuwe trotse bezit van de HTM.
Nieuwe lijn

In 2030 moeten alle bussen schoon rijden
Niet omdat ze al eens rechtszaken heeft aangespannen tegen de HTM vanwege de onmogelijkheid in haar zware rolstoel in een HTM-bus mee te rijden. Maar omdat Bierman oprecht blij is dat die mogelijkheid er nu wél is. Althans, in de acht nieuwe elektrische bussen die vanaf zondag gaan rijden. Weliswaar alleen op een nieuwe lijn van Voorburg station via Den Haag CS naar Scheveningen. Maar het is een begin, wil Bierman er maar mee zeggen.
Net zoals de acht aangekochte elektrische bussen een begin zijn. ,,In 2030 moeten alle bussen schoon rijden’’, zegt wethouder Robert van Asten, die de nieuwe bus zelf een presentatiestukje heeft laten rijden. ,,Dat kan elektrisch zijn. Als ze niet al een andere schone vorm van rijden hebben.”
De bussen laden ’s nachts op in de remise in de Telexstraat en kunnen op het eindpunt in Scheveningen bij het Zuiderstrandtheater ‘bijladen’. Dat de bus naar het Zuiderstrandtheater rijdt heeft meer te maken met de nieuwe woonwijk die er rond het voormalige Norfolkterrein is gekomen dan met het theater. ,,We zijn blij dat deze woonwijk nu is ontsloten met openbaar vervoer”, zegt Van Asten. Ook Bierman is content dat ‘zijn’ bus ‘zoveel mogelijk Hagenaars en Hagenezen’ naar het theater kan brengen, maar ook alle nieuwe bewoners van de nieuwbouw in de omgeving kan vervoeren.

Verdunnen
,,Daarvoor hebben we andere lijnen wel moeten verdunnen”, zegt Bierman in een mooi gevonden wollig woord voor inkrimpen. Hij erkent dat daarop kritiek is. Maar om de HTM financieel draaiende te houden is het schrappen van haltes op andere lijnen of verkorten of veranderen van routes noodzakelijk.
De introductie van de elektrische bus past volgens Bierman helemaal in het innoverende karakter van het Haagse openbaarvervoerbedrijf.

,,De HTM was in 1864 de eerste die een koets op een rail zette: tramlijn 1. Nog altijd onze trots tramlijn 1.” Maar de Haagse vervoerder kwam ook als eerste in de branche met een knielbus met lage instap en elektrisch rijden zonder bovenleiding.

,,We waren zelfs innovatief in kleding”, zegt Bierman en showt zijn rode stropdas. ,,Gevonden op een rommelmarkt. Het is het gebreide exemplaar uit de jaren tachtig. Deze innovatie heeft niet zoveel navolging gekregen en dat is ook wel te begrijpen.”

Vauxhall confirms two more electric vehicles

Vauxhall will embark on an electric-focused technology drive, which will transform its range over the next two years at a similar rate to its first heady days as a car manufacturer at the start of the last century. Two all-new models – next-generation versions of the Mokka X SUV and Vivaro van will be fully electrified, and go in to production in 2020. Both vehicles have been sales hits for the Luton company in their current generations, with the Mokka X still making regular appearances in the UK’s top-ten bestsellers lists, six years after it was launched.

In addition, Vauxhall has announced that two more electrified vehicles the Grandland X PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and the battery-electric, next-generation Corsa will go on sale in the first half of 2019.

The Grandland X PHEV’s propulsion system will develop the equivalent of up to 300PS, and will come with e-All Wheel Drive technology. At the other end of the scale, the Corsa BEV will electrify what is arguably the UK’s best known automotive nameplate, with Vauxhall promising to bring the car to market at a competitive price.

As the UK’s oldest surviving British brand, Vauxhall is used to embracing new technology. It produced the world’s first sports car, and the UK’s first 100mph car. It made Britain’s first unitary construction car, and transformed the driving experience for thousands of motorists.

MG Motors plans to sell electric crossover in Europe

Auto News reported that MG Motor has introduced its first electric vehicle and plans to sell it in Europe as well as China. The vehicle is a battery-powered version of the MG ZS small crossover. It has a range of 335 km (208 miles) under European standards. The EV made its debut at the Guangzhou auto show in November. It will go on sale in Europe, including the UK, sometime in the first half of 2019, SAIC Motor, MG's parent company, said. It did not identify other European countries where it plans to market the vehicle.

The electric MG ZS will undergo road tests in several European countries including the UK, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Germany and France over the next two months, according to SAIC.

Aside from the gasoline-powered MG ZS, SAIC also produces and sells in China the MG3 hatchback, MG6 compact sedan, MG GT sport coupe, as well as two other crossovers – the MG HS and MG GS.

It also distributes the locally produced MG ZS, the MG3, MG5 compact sedan and the MG6 and MG GS in Thailand.

OV-bedrijf Amsterdam bestelt 31 elektrische bussen bij VDL

VDL Bus &Coach levert het Amsterdamse openbaar vervoerbedrijf GVB 31 elektrische bussen, met de optie voor 69 extra elektrische bussen. Dat heeft de VDL Groep, het moederbedrijf van VDL Bus & Coach, woensdag bekendgemaakt. Financiële transacties over de deal zijn niet verstrekt.

Volgens Alexandra van Huffelen, algemeen directeur GVB, is de order van VDL de eerste stap naar het verduurzamen van de Amsterdamse busvloot. Het GVB vervangt de komende jaren de gehele busvloot van circa 200 voertuigen.

Eerder dit jaar bestelde het Rotterdamse openbaar vervoerbedrijf RET 55 volledig elektrische bussen en 143 energiezuinige bussen bij VDL. In het laatste geval ging het om 103 volhybride bussen, die elektrisch rijden combineren met een dieselmotor, en veertig dieselbussen die 10% tot 20% zuiniger rijden dan oude diesels.

Pininfarina names its electric luxury car as Battista

Times Of India reported that luxury electric vehicles brand Automobili Pininfarina, which is a part of Mahindra Group announced that it has named its upcoming luxury electric vehicle as Battista. Pininfarina names its electric luxury car as Battista Named after Battista 'Pinin' Farina, the founder of the Carrozzeria Pininfarina coach building company that he started in 1930, the all-electric hypercar will be designed and hand-built in very limited numbers at Pininfarina SpA.

Mr Paolo Pininfarina chairman of Pininfarina SpA said in a statement that "This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a standalone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. This hypercar will boast world-beating performance, technology innovation and of course elegant styling.”

Daimler buys battery cells in a total volume of EUR 20 billion

Daimler is taking the next step towards securing its CASE corporate strategy. The company already plays a leading role in all four areas of connectivity, autonomous, shared & services and electric. The combination of the individual fields plays a decisive role, especially in the transformation to electric mobility. Dr Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said that “Our electric offensive continues to gain momentum. After investing billions of euros in the development of the electric fleet and the expansion of our global battery network, we are now taking the next step: With the purchase of battery cells for more than 20 billion euros, we are systematically pushing forward with the transformation into the electric future of our company. We plan a total of 130 electrified variants at Mercedes-Benz Cars by 2022. In addition, we will have electric vans, buses and trucks.”

The company is investing ten billion euros in the expansion of the Mercedes-Benz Cars electric fleet and another billion euros in the global battery production network within the worldwide production network.

Mr Wilko Stark, Member of the Divisional Board Mercedes-Benz Cars said that “With extensive orders for battery cells until the year 2030, we set another important milestone for the electrification of our future electric vehicles of the EQ product and technology brand. BMW en Porsche hebben een snellader ontwikkeld waarmee elektrische auto's in theorie net zo snel kunnen worden opgeladen als de tijd die het duurt om een brandstofauto af te tanken.

BMW en Porsche hebben een nieuw hightech laadstation gebouwd in het Duitse Jettingen-Scheppach met een vermogen van maximaal 450 kW. De grote output van het laadstation maakt het mogelijk om snel elektrische voertuigen op te laden. Porsche toonde dat een van zijn prototypen een oplaadcapaciteit van meer dan 400 kW kon bereiken. Op deze manier krijgt het model genoeg lading om 100 kilometer ver te kunnen rijden in minder dan drie minuten ‘tanken’.

Volgens Porsche is de ??laadcapaciteit die drie tot negen keer hoger dan de huidige snellaadstations. Dit betekent dat chauffeurs de oplader snel kunnen gebruiken en na slechts enkele minuten hun reis kunnen voortzetten. BMW demonstreerde een van zijn i3 onderzoeksvoertuigen met een 57 kWh batterijpakket. Dankzij de nieuwe snellader kon de batterij van de auto in een kwartier voor 80 procent worden opgeladen - komende vanaf 10 procent.

Het laadstation is gratis te gebruiken en het werkt met voertuigen die zijn uitgerust met 400- en 800-volt-batterijsystemen die voldoen aan de norm voor het type 2 gecombineerd laadsysteem. De lader kan automatisch de maximaal toegestane laadcapaciteit van een voertuig herkennen en de lading dienovereenkomstig aanpassen. Het testlaadstation staat langs de Duitse A8 in Beieren. Of auto's deze ‘dwangvoeding’ fijn vinden moet nog blijken en ook zullen de omstandigheden voor het laden niet altijd optimaal zijn, maar vooralsnog lijkt de richting van de beweging positief.

VW expects new EV platform will give it an edge over rivals

Auto News reported that VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat brands will launch 27 models based on the MEB architecture. Volkswagen said that the MEB platform that will underpin its ID electric-vehicle family will be even more scalable than the MQB architecture used for 80 percent of the group’s combustion engine cars. Because of that flexibility, MEB, which is a German abbreviation for Modular Electric Toolkit, could give VW a decisive edge over industry competitors when it comes to economies of scale.

Mr Tino Fuhrmann, project leader and head of the MEB model line during a presentation at VW’s factory in Dresden, Germany said that “This is a platform to generate volume by using the same parts in a wide variety of models. We have less variance than MQB, which is something we needed.”

Mr Fuhrmann said that “Those benefits were possible because Fuhrmann and his team tapped into the expertise VW has gained from years of using MQB, which is short for modular transverse matrix. The architecture is utilized in millions of VW Group combustion engine cars ranging in size from the VW Polo small hatchback to the 4900mm-long Skoda Superb sedan. All that we know from MQB, we put into MEB to get the best scale possible.”

By the end of 2022, the VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat brands will have launched 27 MEB-based models. VW Group expects to build about 10 million MEB vehicles over the life cycle of the first-generation architecture.

Hyundai and suppliers plan USD 6.7 billion investment to boost fuel cell output

Hyundai Motor Group and its suppliers plan to spend 7.6 trillion won (USD 6.7 billion) through 2030 to raise production of fuel cells by more than 200-fold as the automaker targets to become a key player in the new-energy vehicle technology. The world's fifth-largest auto group with Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors under its umbrella said that it will boost annual production capacity of fuel cell systems to 700,000 units from 3,000 now and create 51,000 jobs over the next 12 years.

The spending proposal reaffirms Hyundai's faith in the future of a technology that's been derided as "mind-bogglingly stupid" by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, which makes battery-powered cars.

Fuel-cell technology, which has been championed by Toyota as an alternative to the conventional internal combustion engines, involves hydrogen-powered vehicles that emit only water vapor.

Hyundai has South Korea's backing in its bets. The government plans to roll out 4,000 fuel cell electric vehicles on the road next year, a fivefold increase, with an aim to establish 310 hydrogen stations in South Korea by 2022.

The automaker has been wanting to bring its fuel cell vehicles to China and exploring options to utilize hydrogen-powered cars for a mobility service, although specific plans have not been announced yet.

Hyundai aims to produce 500,000 units for fuel cell powered passenger and commercial vehicles, while 200,000 units will be produced for other industries such as drones, vessels and rolling stocks.

De eerste echte elektrische Porsche, de Taycan, rolt halverwege 2019 van de band. Wie een voorschot betaalt, kan hem nu al bestellen. Helaas kun je er vervolgens pas in 2022 mee rijden. Waar al die klanten vandaan komen? Tesla.

Verschillende gespecialiseerde websites melden het nieuws op basis van een interview van CNET met Klaus Zellmer, CEO van de Noord-Amerikaanse tak van het merk. Klanten die een voorschot betalen (dat Porsche zou terugbetalen aan wie zich bedenkt) kunnen de elektrische Taycan nu al bestellen.

En de vraag blijkt groot. Het bedrijf was aanvankelijk van plan om jaarlijks 20.000 exemplaren te produceren. Maar het trok dat aantal al op naar 30.000, al zit daar ook de avontuurlijkere versie Taycan Cross Turismo bij. De vraag is of dat genoeg zal zijn.

Op de Los Angeles Auto Show liet Porsche weten dat als iedereen die al een voorschot betaalde de auto afneemt, alle wagens uit het eerste productiejaar al de deur uit zijn.

Volgens Klaus Zellmer van Porsche zijn meer dan de helft van de mensen die een Taycan reserveerden, geen traditionele Porsche-klanten. ,,Het merk waarvan we de meeste klanten aantrekken, is Tesla”, beweert Porsche. Bij andere modellen snoepte Porsche vooral klanten af van Audi, BMW en Mercedes.

‘Actieradius elektrische auto halveert in kou’

Het bereik van elektrische auto’s kan in de kou met wel 50 procent verminderen. Dat blijkt uit gezamenlijk onderzoek van de Oostenrijkse automobielclub ÖAMTC en de Duitse ADAC.

Een testvoertuig, een Mitsubishi i-MiEV, werd aan een test onderworpen bij 20 graden Celsius en bij 0 graden. In het stadsverkeer leverde dat een verlies aan bereik op van 50 procent: bij 30 km per uur kwam de i-MiEV bij 20 graden 188 km ver, bij 0 graden slechts 93 kilometer.

Bij hogere snelheden (100 km/uur) was het verlies aanmerkelijk minder: ongeveer 10 procent. In de strenge vrieskou (-20 graden) raakte het testvoertuig zelfs tot 65 procent van z’n bereik kwijt in het stadsverkeer; op snelwegen bedroeg het verlies 20 procent. In de winter is de verwarming een grote energieverbruiker van elektrische auto’s.

‘Autorijden wordt iets voor de elite’

De Europese overkoepelende organisatie van autofabrikanten waarschuwt dat autorijden iets voor de rijken wordt. Dit naar aanleiding van strengere uitstootnormen die auto's onbetaalbaar zouden maken.

De EU is al maanden verdeeld over hoe strikt de CO2-uitstoot van auto’s en bestelwagens moet zijn. Een daling van 30 procent in 2030 gaat een aantal landen niet ver genoeg en de auto-industrie kan daaraan wel voldoen, maar de conclusie is wel dat auto's dan extreem duur worden. Daarvoor waarschuwt de ACEA, die vijftien fabrikanten met aanzienlijke Europese belangen vertegenwoordigt.

Deze normen kunnen namelijk niet gehaald worden zonder verregaande elektrificatie van het wagenpark. Nu al blijkt dat elektrische auto's met een beetje fatsoenlijk bereik al snel 50.000 euro kosten - en dat zonder BPM of andere bijkomende subsidies, een situatie die wellicht ook niet altijd blijft voortbestaan. Een verdere daling van de CO2-uitstoot met meer dan 30 procent in 2030 zal volgens de ACEA zware gevolgen hebben voor het dagelijkse leven van de bevolking.

Volgens de ACEA is de voorgestelde daling van de CO2-uitstoot erg agressief en betekent het een bedreiging voor de individuele mobiliteit. De organisatie denkt dat de fabrikanten best in staat zullen zijn om auto’s te produceren die de norm gemiddeld gezien halen, maar vreest wel dat daarmee de betaalbaarheid van individuele mobiliteit voor veel lagen van de bevolking in het gedrang komt.

De prijs van een nieuwe auto zou volgens de organisatie zo duur worden dat alleen de rijke elite deze zich nog kan veroorloven en denkt dat de EU een groot risico neemt door strenge CO2-drempels op te werpen. Ze betwijfelt of de overheid daarvoor op de steun van het volk zal kunnen rekenen. De ACEA verwijst nog net niet naar de gele hesjes in Parijs, maar waarschuwt wel voor ‘verregaande gevolgen’.

Hij klinkt als een ruimteschip, oogt zeer alledaags en moet ervoor zorgen dat ook de accu-auto een echte ‘volks-wagen’ wordt. In Zuid-Afrika zijn de eerste testmodellen van de Volkswagen ID gespot.

Volkswagen had al eerder elektrische modellen in huis, maar dat waren varianten van de Up en Golf met een beperkte actieradius. Nu moet de ID zorgen voor de elektrische ommekeer. Het nieuwe model, dat vanaf de tekentafel is ontworpen als elektrische auto, wordt betaalbaar, praktisch en ongecompliceerd. Begin volgend jaar start de productie in het Duitse Zwickau en tegen het voorjaar van 2020 zal de ID op de markt komen.

Volkswagen is laat in deze klasse: Kia heeft al de E-Niro, Hyundai de Kona en Opel de Ampera-E. Toch lijkt het erop dat VW de grootste en meest ambitieuze plannen heeft met deze auto in de zogeheten Golf-klasse. Want net als de Golf biedt de ID geen spectaculaire, maar wel een positieve alledaagse, normale rijervaring. Hij accelereert snel bij het stoplicht, voelt zich prima thuis op de snelweg en inhalen is gemakkelijk, aldus VW.

In tegenstelling tot Tesla benadrukt VW echter niet de sprintcijfers van de ID. Dat gevecht moet worden uitgevochten door groepsmerken als Audi of Porsche. Volkswagen wil alleen maar de angst voor een lege accu wegnemen en de overgang van verbrandingsmotor naar elektrisch zo gemakkelijk mogelijk maken. De ID is anders dan de modellen van de concurrentie. Want terwijl Hyundai, Audi, Tesla, Jaguar en Mercedes beginnen met een elektrische SUV, kiest Volkswagen voor een meer alledaagse vorm én prijs.

De ID moet bovendien direct geld in het laatje brengen en geen groen vijgenblad zijn om de sjoemeldiesel-affaire mee te bedekken. En dus hangt veel af van dit model, dat - saillant genoeg - ongeveer tegelijkertijd met de nieuwe VW Golf wordt geïntroduceerd. Na de officiële wereldpremière in het najaar van volgend jaar en de internationale marktlancering in het voorjaar van 2020, zal dit model het startschot vormen voor een hele familie van zo'n 10 elektrische voertuigen.

De compacte hatchback ID lijkt veel op de concept car Nexo, die eerder dit jaar werd onthuld. De auto heeft korte overhangen, wat moet leiden tot veel binnenruimte en staat op een nieuw, speciaal ontwikkeld platform voor elektrische modellen met de motor op de achteras. De basisversie krijgt 150 pk, de tweede variant 204 pk en beide auto's hebben een trekkracht van 300 Newtonmeter. De basisversie gaat ongeveer net zoveel kosten ‘als een rijk uitgeruste Golf diesel’ (dus ergens rond de 30.000 euro) en de actieradius is 330 kilometer volgens de WLTP-cyclus.

Electric cars can likely be charged at homes and offices soon – Mr Anoop Singh Bisht

Economic Times reported that electric cars and scooters can now be charged at homes with priority access to electricity from power utilities, reports Mint. According to the report, new guidelines were issued by Anoop Singh Bisht, under secretary in the power ministry, to all Union ministries and departments and the chief secretaries of states and Union territories.

The power ministry early this year issued a notification clarifying that setting up charging stations for electric vehicles will not require a separate licence under the Electricity Act of 2003.

Further, ET reported that the government has asked public charging stations to install both Japanese and Chinese charging technologies for electric vehicles since they have been unable to select one . This will likely raise costs of charging stations. Also, the guidelines require one charging station to be set up every three km in cities and every 25 km on both sides of highways. The tariff for supply of electricity to electric vehicle public charging station shall not be more than the average cost of supply plus 15%.

India has been trying to work out a standard charging format amid strong lobbies on each end. Lack of clarity on charging protocol, delayed the process of demand for electric vehicles in the market.

EV charging stations asked to install both Japanese and Chinese technologies

Economic Times reported that unable to decide between Japanese and Chinese charging technologies for electric vehicles, the government has asked public charging stations to install both platforms, ending months of ambiguity that delayed electric vehicles procurement by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd. Expert said that the move, however, is likely to substantially raise costs of charging stations. The plugs and communication protocols to link batteries to chargers need to be limited to keep costs down.

India has been trying to work out a standard charging format amid strong lobbies on each end. Lack of clarity on charging protocol has to an extent derailed the electric vehicles program that planned to aggregate demand and purchase about 20,000 cars over the next couple of years.

EESL, which is tasked with the procurement of electric cars for use by government departments across the country, withdrew its tender for purchasing 10,000 electric sedans earlier this year. The revised standards are expected to allow foreign automakers to come into the Indian market.

Mr Saurabh Kumar, managing director at EESL said that “If the guidelines open up all types of charging specifications, I think that is really the way to go. This will really encourage manufacturers to come with higher range cars because obviously, nobody is going to bring cars which are already present in India.”

The tender which by EESL called back had a provision for 20% of the 10,000 cars to be in the luxury cars category. With only Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra manufacturing basic electric sedans in the country, this would have allowed foreign automakers like Nissan, Kia Motors to participate in the tender.

Current international standards used by most vehicle manufacturers internationally are CCS and CHAde-MO. Hence public charging stations shall have, one or more electric kiosks/boards with installation of all the charger models, said the guidelines issued by the power ministry on Friday.

Eigenlijk vrachtauto's als een soort electrische tram. Waar komt dan die elektriciteit vandaan? Zou overigens meer zien in vrachtwagens op een soort band naast de snelweg. Maar ja dan kan je net zo goed een doorlopend iets hebben zonder al die verschillende bedrijven.

Opel hometown to become Electric City

Opel’s hometown of Rüsselsheim am Main will become “Electric City”. Rüsselsheim, Opel and the RheinMain University are driving the extension of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics, the installation of around 1,300 charging stations across the city will commence in the upcoming months. These will then be located in all districts and residential areas, on the Opel premises, on the campus of RheinMain University, in residential estates of gewobau Rüsselsheim, on the parking areas of selected supermarkets and shopping centres and on the premises of the municipal clinic. The ambitious project, for which the partners have received the official grants totaling around EUR 12.8 million, will be realized in multiple steps by 2020.

Going forward, each publicly accessible charging point will service 72 inhabitants, thus creating the highest density of charging stations in relation to the number of inhabitants not only in Germany but in all of the European Union. In addition, another 400 charging points will be installed on privately owned land 350 of these on the Opel premises. In comparison, Hamburg, currently the leading German city with regards to charging infrastructure, has 785 public ally accessible charging points for its 1.8 million inhabitants (city ranking of the Federal Association of Energy and Water Industry).

Lord Mayor Udo Bausch said that “The transition to electro-mobility is creating opportunities for Rüsselsheim. The city can take on a leading role for charging infrastructure, for electric vehicles and for electro-mobility in Germany thanks to this unique partnership. The project will strengthen the city as an industrial location and increase our capacity to innovate.”

Opel’s contribution to the project includes parking areas, which will be fitted with 600 charging points and be accessible to the public after completion of the work. Furthermore, charging points will be installed at 350 parking spots for the Opel company car fleet. Opel CEO Mr Michael Lohscheller said that “Opel goes electric! This promise is a core pillar of our PACE! strategic plan. And obviously a massive extension of the charging infrastructure at our Rüsselsheim headquarters is important. This is the consistent continuation of our electro offensive.”

Thanks to the involvement of RheinMain Univeristy, the city of Rüsselsheim will become an urban laboratory for electro-mobility unparalleled in Germany. In the process, technical topics such as supply stability and network integration, along with socio-economic aspects such as mobility behaviour will be examined. The data on the charging behaviour will enable the scientists to predict future demands placed on the electricity network and help them identify the individual needs of electric car drivers. In addition to up to 20 charging points, RheinMain University will also install energy storage systems. These are designed to improve the use of renewable energies and therefore minimise the necessary network extension.

Dr Detlev Reymann, President of RheinMain University said that “the university is making an important contribution to the urban development of Rüsselsheim with its project-specific research. This underlines the approach we chose, which is to further strengthen the strategic role of universities in regional innovation systems.”

Haast iedereen is het eens over de toekomst van de auto; die is elektrisch. Maar wanneer het grote omslagpunt is, daar is nog discussie over. Maar, als het kabinet zijn zin krijgt dan worden er vanaf 2030 geen benzine- of dieselauto’s meer nieuw verkocht in Nederland.

Helaas maakt elektrisch rijden je niet ook direct een betere bestuurder (via De Telegraaf):

Dat melden bronnen aan De Telegraaf. En voor de slimme handelaars: parallelimport van de brandstofauto’s wordt dan ook direct verboden. Het verhandelen van tweedehands auto’s en het rijden in bestaande benzine- en dieselauto’s is dan nog niet verboden. Je wordt nog niet uit je bestaande auto gekickt. De plannen staan in het Klimaatakkoord.

In het Klimaatakkoord staan tevens voorstellen om de accijns op benzine en diesel met 1 cent te verhogen in 2020. De VVD, CDA, D66 en ChristenUnie willen deze kabinetsperiode in ieder geval géén rekeningrijden. De plannen zijn dat dat ergens in 2024 moet komen.
