Russia Announces Space War On Elon Musk's Starlink Satellites, Accepts Moskva Was Attacked

Space X's Starlink internet constellation has angered Russia as it was reported that the Starlink satellite constellation was used to guide the fire on Moskva.

Space X's Starlink internet constellation has angered Russia as it was reported that the Starlink satellite constellation was used to guide and modify fire on the Black Sea Fleet's flagship, the cruiser Moskva and it sank because of that. This was revealed by new data from the Russian Federation's General Staff. Dmitry Medvedev, who has ordered to destroy the Starlink satellite constellation located over Russian Federation territory, the special military operation zone and the Black Sea basin in order to ensure the security of all units participating in the special military operation.

He further stated that Russia has no intentions to militarize outer space but it will also not allow others to do so suggesting that it will take action against whoever tries to militarize outer space. During the examination into the causes of the loss of the Black Sea fleet's flagship, Dmitry Medvedev said that Osipov I.V., Commander of the Russian Navy's Black Sea Fleet, would be removed, according to the State Duma.

Mss omdat men ook satellieten maakt die voor bredere doeleinden kunnen worden ingezet ... zoals bv. voor 'guiding and tracking' van raketten.

SpaceX, Microsoft Team Up To Develop Missile Tracking Satellites & Starlink For Azure Space

...

Additionally, Microsoft will also join SpaceX in its bid to develop remote sensing satellites for the United States Department of Defense (DoD) for tracking intercontinental ballistic, cruise and hypersonic missiles. SpaceX was awarded the contract earlier this month, in the same timeframe as Russia's latest demonstration of its Zircon hypersonic missile. Following the demonstration, Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy speaking at the U.S. Association of the Army last week stated that an American-made hypersonic missile successfully hit its target within a precise six inches.

SpaceX has been awarded a contract to build four infrared missile tracking satellites as part of the National Defense Space Architecture Program. The satellites are expected to be ready for deployment by 2022, and they will work with another set of 28 transport satellites for tracking airborne vehicles. Microsoft did not provide the precise details of its cooperation with SpaceX on this front, but it's likely that the company's cloud computing platforms (which have already received the Pentagon's blessing) will provide significant 'number crunching' capabilities for the initiative.

Doomed Moskva Russia warship is 'seen burning in satellite image' after Ukraine missile strike 'killed ALL 510 aboard' Putin's Black Sea flagship

Satellite images show pride of Putin's Black Sea Fleet while vessels are scrambled to rescue those onboard
The Soviet-era Moskva warship is seen burning in the Black Sea in radar before sinking on April 13
Ukraine claims it launched a missile attack on the warship and killed all 500 onboard including captain
The Moskva's sinking this week has been a huge blow to Russian military prestige

Satellite images show the pride of Putin's Black Sea Fleet burning while other vessels are scrambled to rescue those onboard before it sank after it was struck by Ukrainian missiles in an attack which Kyiv has claimed killed all 510 crew on-board including its captain.

Radar satellite imagery of the northern Black Sea on April 13 appears to pinpoint the Soviet-era Moskva warship, which Ukraine said was struck by two Neptune cruise missiles fired by one of its batteries near the port city of Odesa. Other vessels are also seen in attendance, with reports suggesting they are rescue vessels.

Naval News found the Moskva in satellite imagery that employed synthetic aperture radar (SAR), technology that can 'see' through clouds. The satellite which took the image passed over the area at around 6.30pm local time on Wednesday, the publication said.

It pinpointed the coordinates of a ship matching the Russian vessel and its dire situation to 45°10’43.39?N, 30°55’30.54?E - a position east of Snake Island in the Black Sea, 80 nautical miles from Odesa and 50 nautical miles away from the closest stretch of Ukrainian coastline.

'Based on analysis by multiple people, we are confident that this shows Moskva’s final hours,' Naval News said in its report. It added that Ukraine's claim that it struck the vessel with two Neptune anti-ship cruise missiles would be possible on account of the Moskva being in-range of such weaponry.

It also said that the position of the huge warship matches its previous location patterns since it was positioned off the coast of Ukraine when Russian President Vladimir Putin first launched his brutal invasion on February 24. Naval News added that the location was 'very close' to where it was spotted in other satellite imagery on April 12.

Analysis of the satellite image also found other vessels in the water around the Moskva, suggesting Russia launched a rescue mission to save the crew of the ship that it said was sunk by a fire on board, which resulted in ammunition exploding. Moscow has made no mention of a Ukrainian attack.

While Russia has not released any information of its casualties, Kyiv has claimed that all crew were killed in the attack on the ship. It has been reported the Kremlin's rescue mission failed due to stormy weather at the time.

‘Welcome to hell, Russians’

The blunt message is scrawled across a banner on a bridge over the entry road to Kryvyi Rih, the mining city whose most famous son, once a stand-up comedian, now leads his country in war. ‘‘Welcome to hell, Russian occupant’’, it says.

As they toil in preparation for street battles with the Russian troops pushing north, erecting barricades and digging trenches and tank traps, every man and woman here expresses their respect for President Volodymyr Zelensky and their readiness to fight for him.

There is only one route for the Russians towards the large industrial city of Dnipro. It runs straight through Kryvyi Rih. To the south, Russian forces have captured Kherson. To the east, they have seized Europe’s largest nuclear power plant.

Now the inhabitants of the city where Zelensky was born and brought up are girded for a fight. They want their president to know that they will not be found lacking.

‘‘He is a brave fighter who chose to stand among his people and unite them,’’ said the city’s head of military administration, Aleksandr Vilkul, once a political rival of Zelensky, whom he has known since they were students at the local university.

‘‘He has inspired us. He should know that his city is ready to fight.’’

Even the gravedigger where Zelensky’s grandparents are buried – in a cemetery on the city’s west side, beside one of the main axis routes of the Russian advance – repeated the refrain.

...

Vilkul’s battle plan to defend Zelensky’s birthplace is simple. Using the thousands of civil volunteers and territorial defence forces that have rallied to the president’s call to arms, he has transformed the streets into segmented lines of defence.

Ukrainian troops and antitank weaponry protect its northern and southern approaches, while armed civilians are ready for street fighting behind barricades of sandbags and iron ‘‘hedgehogs’’.

‘‘We’ve been stockpiling food, ammunition and weapons,’’ Vilkul said. ‘‘We won’t retreat. We’ll stand and fight.’’

Zelensky was born to Jewish parents in 1978, the son of a professor and an engineer, and studied law at the city’s university. Many of his classmates are on the barricades.

‘‘He was a natural leader within his group at university, energetic and great at organising,’’ said Vadim, a 43-year-old volunteer who was leading workers pulling iron hedgehogs into position at a street junction. ‘‘We used to hang out as students and swap jokes.

Russian command struggling to counter modern weapons provided to Ukraine, attack in Donbas falters

The Russian military is planning to advance on Ukrainian forces in Donbas from two directions: southward from Izyum, and moving north from Zaporizhzhia oblast, trapping the most battle-hardened Ukrainian army units in a pincer movement.

Russia is pooling everything it has into those two strike groups. But the north grouping, near Izyum, seems to be in trouble – as many as 40% of Russian troops flat out refuse to fight.

They submit reports saying they are willing to return to their bases, but don’t want take part in further combat operations. Since Russia isn’t formally in a war, and there’s no martial law, such behavior isn’t considered desertion. The so-called “special military operation” has, on paper, strictly voluntary participation in it. 40% of the troops that retreated from Kyiv and Chernihiv regions are not keen on re-entering battle, sensing they don’t have great chances of survival.

Their refusals saddle them with stamps in their documents, branding them as people prone to treason, cowardice, and so on. A service record like that could make it harder for them find other work later on and to advance in the ranks. But I think it’s preferable to get something stamped in your ID than to rot in some field in Ukraine or be reduced to ashes in a burning tank.

However, there are still plenty of Russian soldiers with a deathwish who are signing up for the planned offensive. They are assembled into convoys and herded off to the border, towards Izyum. Meanwhile, a limited Ukrainian counteroffensive from Kharkiv threatens Russian control of Izyum. If that were to happen, Russian supply lines in the region would collapse, and I’m not sure how they would be able to attack Donbas then.

Another peculiar observation: Russia is marshaling a lot of old Soviet equipment that they are un-mothballing, but is short on manpower. That’s because they can’t get enough troops without a general mobilization – something Putin wants to avoid, politically. So, their tanks are moving partially-crewed. These convoys aren’t guarded properly, making them easy targets for Ukrainian recon and spec ops squads.

Regarding Slovyansk and Kramatorsk. As far as I understand, they are currently being transformed into “fortress cities” that would spell doom for any advancing Russian troops. The Ukrainian army is highly saturated with anti-tank weapons: according to the United States, Ukraine has around ten AT weapons for every Russian tank, and those weapons are predominantly modern NATO pieces of equipment. Not to mention Ukraine’s own Stugna-P, which is performing excellently.

Moreover, new AA and MANPADS are arriving – like the UK-made Starstreak – which are grinding down the Russian air force. Close air support is thought to be crucial for any Russian offensive around Izyum, Slovyansk, or Kramatorsk. Starstreak in particular is expected to eliminate a lot of Russian jets and helicopters.

There are more toys coming soon. For instance, Slovakia gave Ukraine 18 Zuzana self-propelled howitzers. Similar howitzers were promised to Ukraine by Germany – a hundred of them – along with 50 Leopard-1 tanks. Slovak S-300 AA systems are already in Ukrainian hands.

U.S.-made artillery radars are also being dispersed around Ukrainian army units. Artillery dominates the battlefield in this war. Reports from Donbas suggest that Russians are leveraging their artillery firepower there, so these radars will be invaluable.

There have been some reports of loitering Switchblade drones being used in battle, effectively. Russian advances in the south, near Berdyansk and Melitopol, are allegedly being halted with these drones, among other tools.

...

In general, the battle of Donbas will likely look like a reverse Kursk salient from WWII. Ukraine is holding the salient, and Russia wants to encircle those positions. Back in the day, the Germans committed half a million troops to their operation, while Putin wants to get it done with only 100,000. I don’t know what they are hoping to achieve there, especially now. I think we’ll have a repeat of the Kursk salient, since our defenses there are robust and well-supplied. Not to mention, Russia’s plans are well-known in advance. The Wehrmacht at least tried to conceal their intentions. After their defeat at Kursk, Germany was left without enough forces for any kind of strategic offensive – the Wehrmacht had its back broken.

Putin is behind coordinated pro-Moscow demonstrations across Europe, experts suggest, as hundreds take to the streets of Belgrade with Russian flags and 'Z' symbol t-shirts

Pro-Russian protests have taken place in cities across Europe since war started
All protests have shared similar characteristics - hundreds of pro-Kremlin demonstrators waving the Russian tricolour, displaying the 'Z' pro-war symbol

Russian experts have said they could be orchestrated by the Kremlin

Putin is aware he lacks support for his war abroad, and the protests could be a Moscow-backed attempt to drum up support for the invasion of Ukraine

By Chris Jewers For Mailonline

Moscow may be co-ordinating pro-Russian demonstrations across Europe to amplify pockets of support for its war in Ukraine, it has been reported.

In recent weeks cities including Berlin, Dublin, Hanover, Frankfurt and Athens have seen people take to the streets with Russian flags and vehicles emblazoned with the pro-war Z symbol that has become synonymous with the Kremlin's forces in Ukraine.

Many of the marches have taken place at the same time, despite being hundreds of miles away from each other, prompting Russian experts to suggest they might be being coordinated by Moscow, according to The Times.

The experts told the newspaper that Russians living in other European countries may have been instructed by the Rossotrudnichestvo - a federal agency that works to the benefit of the country's diaspora.

All protests have shared similar characteristics - hundreds of pro-Kremlin demonstrators waving the Russian tricolour, displaying the Z symbol and parroting pro-Putin propaganda about the war in Ukraine.
