Breakthrough discovery of human monoclonal antibodies active against H5N1, which provide immediate protection against the deadly virus
Crucell to present the clinical results of H5N1 Virus Treatment at the 5th Int’l Bird Flu Summit in US.
Washington, DC September 13, 2007 -– Crucell researchers will present encouraging clinical results from a unique set of monoclonal antibodies that are active against H5N1 avian influenza, at the 5th Int’l Bird Flu Summit to be held on September 27 and 28 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“Using the phage display technology, we produced these antibodies in PER.C6 cells and tested their biophysical and immunological properties”, explains Dr. Jaap Goudsmit, Chief Scientific Officer of Crucells.
Together with Crucell’s discovery, the summit will tie in industry concerns on pandemic prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. Public and private sector leaders will address the threat of a Bird Flu pandemic and a possible human-to-human transmission. Distinguished scientists, public health officials, law enforcers, first responders and other experts will come from more than 30 countries.
