The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Tuesday ordered oral arguments in the bumpy attempt by the U.S. Department of Justice to dismiss the prosecution against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

Those arguments are set for Friday, June 12, 2020, at 9:30 a.m. before judges Karen L. Henderson (appointed by George H. W. Bush), Robert L. Wilkins (appointed by Barack Obama) and Neomi Rao (appointed by President Donald Trump).

Griezelig die beelden. Wel goed dat dit allemaal voor de verkiezingen plaatsvind. Als een president zich zo gedraagt bij zijn eigen volk, heeft u dan weleens nagedacht over hoe hij de rest van de wereld ziet ? Wat ik stuitend vind is dat men blijkbaar weinig mensen op leidinggevende posten heeft die niet een moment nadenken of een andere insteek wellicht beter zou zijn. Die video waar de politie tegenover een aantal demonstranten staat en 1 jongen een emotionele toespraak houdt. Is er dan niet 1 iemand die naar voren komt en als is het maar een hand op zijn schouder legt, of hem een glaasje water geeft. Dat haalt de angel uit de hele confrontatie. Ik weet wel, wij menen alles op te moeten lossen met een kopje thee. Dit is wezenlijk anders, dit zijn landgenoten, die zich niet prettig voelen. Dit is wel een voorbeeld van hoe hard men daar is. Wil je daar de beste zijn moet je echt over lijken kunnen gaan, dat is ook de American way.

On Tuesday, The Daily Beast detailed how President Donald Trump himself has been behind the push to use the military to control the protests against the police killing of George Floyd — to the extent that he actually asked about specific military equipment that would be available for that purpose.

“[Defense Secretary Mark] Esper, along with other cabinet secretaries, stood next to the president during the remarks in the park after participating in an hour-long call with governors in which he said they needed to ‘dominate the battlespace’ to quell the protests,” reported Erin Banco, Spencer Ackerman, and Asawin Suebsaeng. “But three senior Pentagon officials who spoke with The Daily Beast said they viewed the secretary’s comments on the call as a way to publicly show support for the president. They did not expect the department to actually implement a plan that would reflect the president’s rhetoric and force additional troops upon the states.”

“These Pentagon officials added that it was the White House, not the Defense Department, that was pushing for active military might in the streets,” continued the report. “In particular, the president has pressed aides and Pentagon officials for graphic details on the kind of armored vehicles, military units, aircraft, and even ‘tanks’ that they could potentially send to maintain order in U.S. areas rocked by protests and rioting, according to two people familiar with recent discussions.”

Trump has frequently shown a fondness for using the military to broadcast his strength. In 2019, he held a controversial military parade in Washington to mark the Fourth of July.

Er was het proces tegen Michael Flynn
AG Barr wilde de rechtszaak laten vervallen.
De prosecutor van het DOJ weigerde hieraan mee te werken en stapte op.
Vervolgens kwam prosecutor Tim Shea die de rechter verzocht de rechtszaak te laten vervallen.

Kort daarna stapte Tim Shea op en werd door Barr, vorige maand, aangesteld als hoofd van de DEA.

De FBI doet onderzoek naar malafide en staatsgevaarlijke praktijken en kan personen arresteren en aanklagen.
De DEA mag dit ook doen bij drugsgerelateerde zaken.

AG Barr heeft deze bevoegdheid van de DEA uitgebreid naar onderzoek voor wangedrag tijdens demonstraties.

Tim Shea staat aan het hoofd van de DEA. Shea heeft al blijk gegeven van zijn partijdigheid en steun aan Trump dor de rechtszaak tegen Flynn (Trump's steun en toeverlaat in de 2020 campagne).

Het gevaar is aanwezig dat Shea zijn DEA agenten opdracht geeft selectief het wangedrag tijdens de demonstraties aan te pakken.
