As CES 2017 is all set to roll out this week, there has been a whole gamut of announcements and teasers going all around. The latest we got our ears on is something involving Nissan, a day before it is all prepped up to deliver its keynote at the tech conference.
The automaker took to twitter to subtly tease Cortana being a part of its announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show on January 5 in Las Vegas.

Nissan, part of the Renault-Nissan alliance, is keeping mum about what-is-yet-to-come. So, we can only speculate what Nissan is about to reveal. Considering the fact that Microsoft teamed up with Volvo to introduce Skype for Business in Volvo’s 90 series cars and the latter mentioned exploring possibilities of bringing Cortana to its cars, we might, well, guess the news.
The most likely scenario is the incorporation of Cortana into its vehicles. We are intrigued to know how this will be implemented and whether some novel features will be launched. Last year at CES, Microsoft had partnered with Harman to bring Office and other productivity features to their cars, which, however, didn’t happen, so this adds on to our already building anticipation.
Microsoft is evidently driven to bring Artificial Intelligence to a variety of devices and services. This is understandable as it had revealed plans to allow toasters, refrigerators, and a host of connected devices to access Cortana. It now allows third parties to unveil products and devices with Cortana.
Harman Kordan collaborated with Redmond giant to unveil its upcoming range of speakers powered by Cortana. But will Microsoft be treading the path Amazon and Google set on with Amazon Echo and Google Home respectively? Will it introduce its own set of speakers following the third-party association with Harman? CES, we can’t wait. Just commence already!

Auto-industry titans including Ford and BMW are increasingly using CES to show off technology packed into vehicles for efficiency, safety, entertainment and navigation.
Race for autonomy
The show will feature demonstrations of autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles, including one from Japan's Honda said to be equipped with an artificial intelligence "emotion engine" that aims to better understand its occupants.
Electric car startup Faraday Future, one of the several manufacturers taking on Tesla, is expected to unveil its first production car a year after showing a prototype.
Renault-Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn has promised to discuss "a major technological breakthrough in the realisation of a zero-emission, zero-fatality world for everyone," according to a statement from CES organisers.

Dat doe je niet als er niet ook futureproof dingen ontwikked zijn.

Waar CES vanouds een plek is waar wasmachines en televisies worden aangekondigd, zijn sinds een jaar of twee auto’s hot. Steeds meer autofabrikanten tonen er nieuwe technologieën. De Chevrolet Bolt, de relatief betaalbare elektrische auto die in Nederland op de markt komt als de Opel Ampera-e, debuteerde bijvoorbeeld vorig jaar op CES. En dit jaar zal er alleen maar meer aandacht zijn voor auto’s.

Sowieso hebben Toyota, Hyundai en Honda een officiële persconferentie gepland op CES. Maar de kans is groot dat ook andere bedrijven, zoals chipmakers, aankondigingen doen op het gebied van slimme/zelfrijdende auto’s.

En dan is er de aankondiging van Faraday Future. Dit Amerikaanse bedrijf zou de grote concurrent van Tesla moeten worden, maar het schijnt helemaal niet goed te gaan. Desondanks presenteert het dinsdag (in Nederland in de nacht van dinsdag op woensdag) zijn eerste auto die ook echt op de markt moet verschijnen.

Microsoft will be one of many companies showcasing automated driving features at CES 2017, but while many are striving for full automation, Microsoft and others’ systems will augment human drivers. They will encourage inter-car communication, use AI bots that can analyse traffic and run in-depth analytics on everyone’s driving style.

I’ve made no secret of my interest in driverless car technology, but as close as it is to reality, it’s fair to say that it will be a decade or more before most can begin to afford such an extravagance. In the mean time new car buys will come with ever increasing automated features, some of which Microsoft will be showing off at CES 2017.

At the show starting this week, Microsoft will showcase technologies such as AI bots that are capable of analysing the environment around the car, the roadway ahead, the current flow of traffic and pedestrian density. All of that can then be fed back to the driver to recommend lane choices or an alternative route.

De Eli Zero maakt deze week zijn debuut op de CES 2017, de Consumer Electric Show in Las Vegas. De elektrische tweezitter is uitermate compact en daarom vooral geschikt voor vervoer in de stad.

Renault Twizy
Er zijn vooralsnog weinig details bekend over de Eli Zero, maar de elektrische auto heeft zowel overeenkomsten met de Renault Twizy als de Smart Fortwo. Het bedrijf achter de compacte auto, Eli Electric Vehicles, stelt op zijn website dat het met deze auto ‘de toekomst van stedelijke mobiliteit wil veranderen’.
Meer details worden in de loop van de week bekend gemaakt, wanneer de auto gepresenteerd wordt op de CES 2017.
Honda
Compacte vervoersmiddelen voor in de stad lijken toe te nemen in populariteit. Ook Honda onthult een futuristische conceptauto op de CES 2017. De zogeheten NeuV wordt een elektrische tweezitter en moet emoties krijgen. Wat dat precies betekent laat Honda vooralsnog niet los.

Is donderdag 3.30 Belgische tijd.
Hopelijk komt een samenwerking met tomtom ook uitgebreid aan bod.
Deze headliner zou het grootste evenement op de cesbeurs worden waar alle pers ter wereld de meeste interesse voor zou tonen.
Vandaag zou ik toch ook al een paar pb willen zien verschijnen

Helemaal niet zeker dat dit samen met Waymo is, zoals die minivans die ze leveren die Waymo vervolgens volpropt met eigen hardware.

Dit ding zou meer dan een "doos" om andermans kern heen kunnen zijn. Meer FCA's weg om nog mee te spelen als SDC-taxi's een realiteit gaan worden.

Hopelijk helpt dat de Amerikanen een beetje de ogen te openen.

Een beetje promotie bij de automotive-pers aan de andere kant van de plas kan geen kwaad!

Gedaan, en verder paar x Volvo ingevuld (of een andere waarvan we weten dat ze TomTom klant zijn), maar Volvo als 'Europeaan' leek me niet gek.
