Further update re Paraytec Limited



Braveheart Investment Group (AIM: BRH), is pleased to provide an update concerning progress on the COVID-19 test that Paraytec Limited ("Paraytec") is developing with the University of Sheffield.

Paraytec's work to develop the test is proceeding at pace. Paraytec has acquired purified SARS-CoV2 virus which it will use to optimise both the lower limit and speed of detection, with the aim of detecting virus in asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic patients.

Ethical approval has been obtained from the Sheffield Hospitals Trust to test up to 500 clinical samples, which will be verified using the gold standard PCR approach to unambiguously demonstrate the performance characteristics of the COVID-19 test. The first results of this work are expected by the end of January 2021, at which time a further update will be provided.

Braveheart notes the recent discussions in the media regarding the underperformance of a range of single-use testing (lateral flow) devices, which are being trialled throughout the UK. The Company is committed to developing a test which achieves the performance parameters specified by the Medical Health Regulatory Authority and delivers a test result in five minutes.

Paraytec confirms that its virus capture technology will now be applied to the development of both the optical measurement system and a lateral flow device.

Braveheart Investment Group (AIM: BRH), notes the recent increase in the Company's share price and advises that it knows of no reason for such rise.

On 18 December 2020, the Company provided an update on the progress of its investee company, Paraytec Limited, via a Reach announcement, an investor communication service which assists AIM quoted companies, among others, to distribute non-regulatory non-material news releases into the public domain. The Company does not expect to be able to report any further progress until the results of the live tests, to be carried out in mid-January 2021 are known, which is expected to be in late January 2021. There is no certainty that these test results will be successful. A further update will be made at that time.

Octopus backs Novacyt to deliver

Investment company Octopus has reaffirmed its support for Novacyt as it backed it to deliver on its profit forecasts and remains supportive of the business.

The comments came during the monthly commentary for its Octopus UK Micro Cap Growth Fund in which Novacyt was one of the detractors in the fund for the month of November – however, it was regularly the star performer for many months.

Explaining its expectations for the company and belief in its future, it noted:

“We remain confident in the profit forecasts for both companies and remain supportive.”

More recently, Novacyt’s investor relations manager has also hinted at a promising few weeks ahead according to social media reports. Investors have reportedly been told that ‘no news is good news’ as Novacyt asked investors to be patient.

The share price of Novacyt has proven to be resilient, currently trading at 877p – sustaining its meteoric rise since the start of last year.
