Genzyme Shrs Slip 9% After FDA Notice About Foreign Particles

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday warned doctors about stainless steel fragments and other particles that have found their way into a small percentage of five Genzyme Corp. (GENZ) medicines.

The FDA said it hasn't received any reports of adverse events associated with the products, which include Genzyme's Gaucher disease drug Cerezyme, and Fabrazyme, Myozyme, Aldurazyme and Thyrogen. The agency said foreign particles were believed to have been found in less than 1% of the products. Still, the agency said the steel fragments and other fiber-like material could "potentially cause serious adverse events in patients."

Shares of Genzyme recently were down $3.42, or 6.43%, at $49.75. The FDA was alerted about the problem through quality reports submitted by Genzyme. Some problems that may occur include damage to blood vessels or anaphylactic and allergic reactions.

The agency said the Genzyme products in question are used to treat rare diseases. The FDA said it's "acutely aware of the critical need for patients to have continued access to these important products."

The FDA said it will continue to allow the products to be marketed because it has "carefully considered the potential for serious adverse events from foreign particle contamination."

The agency said health-care professionals should visually inspect all of the products, which are in powder and liquid form. The agency said anyone with adverse events should call the agency at 1-800-FDA-1088, report problems via fax at 1-800-FDA-0178 or by filing out a form online at: www.fda.gov/medwatch/report/hcp.htm.

Volume 182000 on the Euronext

49,000 on the Nasdaq

Why? Because management has scared all investors away. Investors know they will not get a fair shake with this MT. Because the MT keeps all information veiled and secreted...so only they can dole it out at their whim. Everyone knows the future of this company is not in the hands of Crucell and its shareholders...Brus et al sold the future for 5% of the market value to line his own pockets. Because incompetent management can't get Flavimun approved in 4 years, the can't make margins, they can't make earnings, they can't make revenues, they can't stay on schedule, they can't tell the truth.

Dump Brus...retake the company.

Too bad Knott bailed, who else is bailing because management sucks? Easier Question...who isn't, only the compensated toadies and lackies.

Dump Brus...he is a loser.

Oh, in addition to the compensated toadies and lackies, there are also those who can't do math. They think lagging the AEX is actually beating the AEX by 2%. Great deal!

Please examine my last post ...no capitals unless they were grammatically correct. I only go all capitals on occasion, when the occasion warrants.

Long time investors are bailing...this should be disconcerting to anybody who cares about whether the stock price will go up. Control of the company sold for 1/5 the market price, under the excuse that J+J will care about getting products to market. No company is going to bid on Crucell becasue they would have to get by J+J, and if J+J wants to eventually buy the company they will suppress the stock price. A deal that did not sell the future of the company would have been much better. What is the cash for? Crucell PROMISED they did not need any cash for operations, they wouldn't dilute for that reason.(Yes I used capitals because I wanted to emphasize that MT lied)
Why did they do that? No one knows, Brus has stated it was to strengthen the balance sheet...funny he had stated the balance sheet was strong enough.

F**k the health of the company rhetoric, and the increase in Market Cap...more money in the coffers only means Brus can dip his beak more often without it being noticed. Trips to Paris and the beach, 4 star hotels, boat parties in Switzerland, company paid for wardrobes(for CC's of course), 100 euro haircuts.

Never heard of.
Leo Dennis Kozlowski [1] (born November 16, 1946, Newark, New Jersey) is a former CEO of Tyco International, convicted in 2005 of crimes related to his receipt of $81 million in purportedly unauthorized bonuses, the purchase of art for $14.725 million and the payment by TYCO of a $20 million investment banking fee to Frank Walsh, a former TYCO director. He is currently serving 8.25 to 24 years at the Mid State Correctional Facility in Marcy, New York.

Kozlowski became notorious for his extravagant lifestyle supported by the booming stock market of the late 1990s and early 2000s; allegedly, he had Tyco pay for his $30 million New York City apartment which included $6,000 shower curtains and $15,000 "dog umbrella stands".

According to Forbes, Kozlowski also purchased several acres in the private gated community, "The Sanctuary", in Boca Raton, Florida, while he was CEO at Tyco International.

Tyco paid $1 million (twice the bill) for the 40th birthday party of Kozlowski's second wife, Karen M. Kozlowski. The extravagant party, held on the Italian island of Sardinia, featured an ice sculpture of the Statue of David urinating Stolichnaya vodka. This birthday bash was disguised as a shareholder meeting in order to get corporate funding. In a camcorder video, Dennis Kozlowski states that this party will bring out a Tyco core competency - the ability to party hard. Subsequently, this shareholder meeting/birthday party became known as the Tyco Roman Orgy.

Your complaint is what? That I post often and I hate the MT of Crucell? That they use corporate funds for things I deem inappropriate?

The lack of backbone to tell the MT of Crucell to stop wasting money and diluting the company has gotten us to the point of major shareholders fleeing the company. Knott was the Van Herck of the USA, his elimination of shares, after holding through thick and thin tells the world something.

Luckily we still have on of our other major US shareholders, mr. T, still on board, though he is sometimes a bit critical.

BTW: Did you write emails already to the big pack of new US shareholders to warn them about their big mistake? You may be more successfull over there.

3. www.takeovers.govt.nz/decisions/2009/...
David Knott neemt het niet altijd even nauw.
