The volume isn't just low just because of the Wyeth rumor last year, it is low because Crucell turned over the fate of the company to J+J for 5% of market cap. I laugh when I read about how this is not true. Of course it is true. No company, other than J+J, would ever make an offer to buy this company now....end of story. Some on this board talk about how we need to understand how biotech companies, and their stocks, operate. That of course there are many setbacks, that many of the projects fail. Of course we understand this. But they fail to acknowledge that part of what drives the higher valuations of many mid to small size biotechs is a possibility of a take-over. Crucell sold that possibiity to J+J for 5% of market cap. J+J bought an option to buy, and a right of first refusal, for at least 6 years, for 5% of market cap. Brus blathers on, as usual, as to what a great deal this was. THE MARKET HAS SPOKEN...down 20% since the announcement of this "biggest deal ever". Who has won in this deal...we could argue that J+J has won, the public good has won, Crucell management has won...what can not be argued on any level is that the Crucell shareholders have won. Screwed again by Brus and his selfishness.
What could salvage this debacle?....if Crucell picked up the pace. But we know how Brus has fared in keeping on pace. Flavimun and Ebola are just two examples. The delays starting in their Fast Track candidate...Rabies. FluMabs should be in Phase I by now...it has been almost 1 and a half years since Jaap announced the promising results of the Flumabs against a variety of strains of Flu. And they could speed up some of these other 3 projects they claim they are going to do with J+J (maybe they should hire out Galapagos...they seem to know what they are doing in this area...unlike The Ego), so we could get a glimpse of what some of the milestones will be. But of course, when this happens, we will know why Crucell doesn't announce what the milestones will be, and it isn't because they are sworn to secrecy. It is because they will be pitifully small. Brus announces his potential deal value by imagining every one of these projects succeeds and every one brings in 5 billion in sales a year.
Does he tell us how he comes up with his "biggest deal ever"figures? No. He is vague as always. I was so happy to hear Tony Campbell laugh under his breath at the gall of Brus to once again trot out the "biggest deal ever" moniker...and then once again give no details. Please, please, please...Brus "answered" his question with more obfuscation and "sound and fury that signified nothing". Brus is laughed at by analysts ever time he speaks.
Despite nice articles, such as the one posted by Flosz, stating what "great potential" Crucell has, the Street knows that the "great potential" will be squandered as long as Brus is at the helm of this company. He cares only about himself, and sneers and urinates on the shareholders.
Dump Brus.
Dump Brus.
