Das is nog steeds niet verboden. Dat moeten wij als Nederlanders in ons belastingparadijs toch weten. Waarom zitten die postbusfirma's hier? Het politiek systeem in de VS is aardig verrot.
Meest opvallende vind ik nog wel dat een land als de VS het niet voor elkaar krijgt om een normale, betrouwbaar verkiezingssysteem in elkaar te draaien. Daarmee degradeert het land zich tot naties als Wit-Rusland, Turkije, Venezuela, en nog een aantal van dit soort dictatoriale staten.

Elke keer is er in de VS wel hommeles, waardoor niet de Kiesraad, maar de rechter bepaalt wie er gewonnen heeft. Ik verwacht ook dit jaar weer het nodige vuurwerk.

En zeker niet die onwijs belachelijke debattijden, het lijkt wel of ze het expres doen om zo weinig mogelijk Nederlanders te laten kijken live, te laat om op te blijven tot 04.30 uur en te vroeg om op te staan om 03.00 uur. Als er 1 ding is wat zal blijven hangen na gisteravond, naast de uitermate boertige president die zich niet aan regels kan houden en moet worden toegesproken als een kleuter om hem weer in het gareel te krijgen, dan is het voor mij dit:

Asked whether he condemned white supremacists and military groups, Mr. Trump demurred and then said, “Proud Boys — stand back and stand by.”

Within minutes, members of the group were posting in private social media channels, calling the president’s comments “historic.” In one channel dedicated to the Proud Boys on Telegram, a private messaging app, group members called the president’s comment a tacit endorsement of their violent tactics.

In another message, a member commented that the group was already seeing a spike in “new recruits.”

CLEVELAND - Joe Biden’s campaign touted that it raised a record $3.8 million in fundraising during the 10 p.m. ET hour on Tuesday night as the former vice president and President Trump traded fire during an extremely combustible first of three presidential debates.

The Biden campaign also characterized Trump as “tired and angry” while Biden appeared “confidently smiling" during the showdown.

The Biden campaign also pointed to “an incredibly critical moment in this debate.”

“Once again Trump had multiple chances to say he disowned white supremacy. He was asked explicitly to do so and once again he openly refused,” Bedingfield emphasized.

And Bedingfield also committed that Biden would participate in the rest of the debates against President Trump.

trump accused Biden of failing to admonish violent rioters and stand up for law enforcement in Democratic-led cities that have been unraveling with racial unrest.

"The people of this country want and demand law and order and you're afraid to even say it," trump said.

Wallace asked Biden why he doesn't call the mayor of Portland, Ore., to bring in the National Guard to stop the violence.

"I don't hold public office now," Biden said, adding that "the violence should be prosecuted."

Wallace turned to trump and asked him: "Are you willing, tonight, to condemn white supremacists and militia groups and to say that they need to stand down?"

trump said he'd be willing to do it, but then said: "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I'll tell you what, somebody's got to do something about Antifa and the left."

“Antifa is an idea, not an organization," Biden responded, referencing FBI Director Christopher Wray's claim that Antifa was more of a movement or ideology.

Proud Boys, the conservative group, celebrated trump's comments and started pitching merchandise with trump's "stand by" words.

President donald trump refused to condemn right-wing extremist groups when put on the spot during a segment about Black Lives Matter protests during the first presidential debate.

“I would say almost everything I see is from the left wing, not from the right wing. I’m willing to do anything, I want to see peace,” trump said in Cleveland.

“Well, then do it sir,” Fox News moderator Chris Wallace replied, giving the president an ample opening to disavow such violent militias.

“Who would you like me to condemn? The Proud Boys? Stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what, I’ll tell you what. Somebody’s gotta do something about antifa and the left, because this is not a right-wing problem, this is a left-wing problem,” Trump said.

Democratic nominee Joe Biden then stepped in with an attempt to correct his opponent on stage. “Antifa is an idea, not an organization,” he said, before trump cut in.

“You have to be kidding,” the president scoffed.

The former vice president was referencing comments made by FBI director Chris Wray, who said earlier this month during testimony that antifa is “not a group or an organization. It’s a movement or an ideology.” Wray also testified that white supremacist violence makes up the lion’s share of the U.S. domestic terrorism threat.

Outside of the debate, Proud Boys leader Joe Biggs saw trump’s remarks as permission to “fuck” up the group’s foes.

“trump basically said to go fuck them up!” Biggs wrote on Parler, an alternative social media network that courts conservatives. “This makes me so happy.”

Other Proud Boys leaders posted on Parler and Telegram, another social network popular with far-right figures banned, that they would follow trump’s request to “stand down and stand by.”

“I will stand down sir!!!” Proud Boys national chairman Enrique Tarrio wrote on Parler. “Standing by sir. So Proud of my guys right now.”

In an interview with The Daily Beast, Tarrio predicted that “stand back, stand by,” would become a Proud Boys slogan. Earlier Proud Boys mottos have included “The West Is the Best” and “Fuck Around and Find Out,” a warning to the group’s perceived enemies.

“I think this ‘stand back, stand by” thing will be another Proud Boy saying,” Tarrio said.

Daryl Johnson, a former Department of Homeland Security intelligence analyst who in 2009 warned of the growing threat of far-right militias, told The Daily Beast that “within the context of trump’s statements which insinuate future voter fraud, a rigged election, etc., [it] sounds like a subtle endorsement of future use violence by the Proud Boys. Again, another statement by the president that fans the flames of fear and seems to support violent far right groups, rather than condemn them.”

On a briefing call with reporters after the debate, Kate Bedingfield, the Biden campaign’s communications director, addressed the shock and significance of Trump’s failure to distance himself from the group.

“I think that was an incredibly critical moment in this debate,” Bedingfield said in the on-the-record call. “He had multiple opportunities to say he disowns white supremacy. He was asked explicitly to do so and once again he openly refused. Even after citing the Proud Boys by name, he refused to condemn that group and to condemn white supremacy.”

Dat hij niet goed bij zijn hoofd is, zijn we het wel over eens denk ik.:)
Ondoordacht? Ze was en is nog steeds in dienst van haar vader, vroeger voor zijn bedrijf en nu voor papa de president. Net zoals zn halve familie overal bij betrokken was en is. Dus snap niet echt waar je nou zo verbaasd over bent. Voor zover ik de uitkomsten van het NYT artikel zie kunnen we vooral opmaken dat hij zoals hij, zelfs ooit al eens zei, het slim heeft gespeeld en weinig belasting betaalt. Dat kun je moreel verwerpelijk vinden, maar is niet strafbaar.

Maar aangezien hij daarnaast vooral veel op de pof lijkt te hebben gedaan, ziet de toekomst er iets minder rooskleurig uit voor maffia familie trump. Al moet dat ook nog maar blijken natuurlijk, rijke mensen hebben nou eenmaal het geluk topfiscalisten en adviseurs in te kunnen huren die er vaak voor zorgen dat dat het allemaal wel meevalt. En als de beweringen van zijn oud advocaat Cogen kloppen, staat hem nog wel wat meer gezeik te wachten. Toch zie ik hem niet in de gevangenis belanden...

Who are the Proud Boys, the far-right group that Donald Trump name-checked at the first presidential debate? And do they hate Jews?

The answer to the second question: Some of them — including their founder — certainly do.

Let’s back up: At the debate Tuesday night, moderator Chris Wallace asked Trump whether he would condemn white supremacists from the debate stage. He did not. What he did say, amid denunciations of the far-left Antifa, was this:

“Proud Boys, stand back and stand by, but I’ll tell you what, somebody’s gotta do something about Antifa and the left because this is not a right-wing problem, this is a left-wing problem.”

The group Trump referred to, the Proud Boys, is a far-right, “western chauvinist” fraternal organization founded by Gavin McInnes that supports Trump and has engaged in street violence. Anti-Semitism is not core to the group’s ideology, but according to the Anti-Defamation League, the group has allied with white supremacists, and McInnes has made a series of anti-Semitic statements. The ADL estimates that it has several hundred members.

A former member of the Proud Boys, Jason Kessler, was the primary organizer of the 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, which Joe Biden again criticized for its anti-Semitism during the debate Tuesday. Chapters of the Proud Boys have marched with neo-Nazis on other occasions as well.

Just as members of the Boogaloo Bois, another far-right group, frequently wear Hawaiian shirts, the Proud Boys have adopted a specific quasi-uniform, in their case a black polo shirt with yellow trim produced by the British company Fred Perry. Late last week, the company announced that it would stop selling the shirts and issued a forceful statement reiterating its top executive’s previous condemnation of the Proud Boys.

Fred Perry, the Englishman who founded the company in 1952, “started a business with a Jewish businessman from Eastern Europe. It’s a shame we even have to answer questions like this. No, we don’t support the ideals or the group that you speak of. It is counter to our beliefs and the people we work with,” John Flynn, the company’s chair, said in 2017 and again in the new statement.

“And, in case anyone has any doubts, the Proud Boys are a virulent strain of American right-wing extremism,” ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted on Tuesday night, following the debate. “They have a long track record of violence, including in Portland this past weekend.”

He wrote that Trump “owes America an apology or an explanation. Now.”

McInnes went on an anti-Semitic rant in 2017, in which he defended Holocaust denial and repeated anti-Semitic stereotypes. The rant came in a video he originally titled “10 things I hate about the Jews.”

“I felt myself defending the super far-right Nazis just because I was sick of so much brainwashing and I felt like going, ‘Well, they never said it didn’t happen. What they’re saying is it was much less than 6 million and that they starved to death and weren’t gassed, that they didn’t have supplies,’” he said, before adding, “I’m not saying it wasn’t gassing.”

He also blamed Jews for Josef Stalin’s starvation of millions of Ukrainians. “I think it was 10 million Ukrainians who were killed,” he said. “That was by Jews. That was by Marxist, Stalinist, left-wing, commie, socialist Jews.”

He then said Jews have a “whiny paranoid fear of Nazis.”
