MICK “Many Names” Shemesian, the mysterious money-man bankrolling the big Pilbara gold play, makes it clear he doesn’t like talking about himself, especially to nosey reporters.

“I like to keep a low profile,” he tells The Sunday Times after stepping off a plane in Dubai, now his base where he enjoys close links to the wealthy emirate’s royal family and he can wheel and deal at will.

Mr Shemesian is the biggest shareholder of Artemis Resources, now in a joint venture with Canadian miner Novo in tenements south of Karratha.

He’s happy to talk up the venture, which has turned the miner from a $3 million junior into one worth $200 million in a matter of months.

Claims of a Pilbara gold rush have pricked the attention of international investors and ASX compliance officers who have suspended trading in Haoma Mining, owned by the wealthy Melbourne pollster Gary Morgan.

The stocks of other juniors are also going ballistic, with talk of a golden footprint across the Pilbara, despite the lack of any hard drilling evidence.

“I had a mate come back to Perth the other day from Karratha and he said the plane was full of geologists. That’s a great sign,” Mr Shemesian said.

“Everyone’s up there having a look. We’ve got people from the USA, Europe ... everyone’s in the Pilbara at the moment.

“Karratha’s got the infrastructure. It’s all there waiting to go off.”

When asked about how much he’s sunk into the Pilbara, he concedes “tens of millions” but won’t expand on his other investments in Europe and Africa, except to claim they are all in mining and exploration.

Mr Shemesian, of Armenian stock whose father worked with Lang Hancock throughout the Pilbara in the 1960s, is believed to be worth about $200 million.

His first big deal reportedly involved Melbourne underworld figure Mick Gatto who had to sort out a settlement between Perth Glory owner Tony Sage, Mr Shemesian and Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich over the 2009 sale of Cape Lambert.

Mr Shemesian is believed to have walked away with about $80 million for his 10.5 per cent of Cape Lambert.

When asked why he had such a intriguing reputation, he said: “I’m just an old Karratha boy. My neighbours were (BRW rich-lister) Kerry Harmanis and (millionaire Perth prospector) Mark Creasy.

“I shared a cyclone once with Creasy in 1983. Maybe it was ’84. I can’t remember.” He said there had been gold in the Pilbara “forever” but “everyone spends their money in Kalgoorlie because no-one understands the Pilbara.

“There are no old-time shafts up there ... no one know how to unlock the Pilbara.”

His many other companies were also focusing on the “sexy stuff” — cobalt, lithium and nickel — and he was always looking for acquisitions across the globe.

He described as “fun” his involvement “in this proud WA story” and said there was “more to come”.

“Things are moving fast. The Pilbara needs this,” he said.

So why, as folklore has it, does his name get misspelt regularly on official documents, hence his moniker and enigmatic reputation?

He explained that deals where often done in the bush and roughly written on the back of beer coasters and old scraps of paper. When lawyers had to fill in the official ASIC paperwork, “they must get the spelling wrong”.

So let’s clear it up then once and for all. How do you spell your name? Two M’s? Two S’s? “Sure,” he says, and chuckles.

Bijkopen .. nee dat is niet wat ik doe, zitten blijven... Bijkopen doe ik alleen als er goede cijfers zijn om te ondersteunen.. dit is een risicobelegging, dus ik koop 1 keer in en blijf de rit zitten.

HTGirl is mooi verdwenen trouwens he? Wel jammer, had mooie bijdragen...

Mooi omschreven trouwens ZW Ridder.. idd stalen zenuwen haha... ik heb een flinke hap verloren erop zover.. maar goed.. op de gehele portefuille valt het nog wel mee... maar mooi staat het niet..
Zit in de potentieportefuille... all or nothing lijkt niet overdreven :P

Macarthur Minerals Limited (TSXV:MMS) (the “Company” or “Macarthur Minerals”) is pleased to announce that Artemis Resources Limited (“Artemis”) is to commence exploration for conglomerate hosted gold at Macarthur Minerals’ two tenements subject to an option agreement, as previously announced on October 8, 2017.

“Macarthur Minerals is looking forward to Artemis Resources commencing exploration for the identification of conglomerate gold on its tenements subject to the option agreement with Artemis Resources.”

EXPLORATION PROGRAM

Artemis has advised it will shortly commence a stream sediment sampling program with a focus on identifying a prospective conglomerate hosted gold horizon.

Tenements E45/4779 and E45/4732 cover approximately 78 km of the basal contact of the Mt Roe Basalt. The target for the conglomerate gold horizon is beneath the Mt Roe basalt as has been shown at Artemis’ Purdy’s Reward Project where numerous gold nuggets have been discovered.

The sampling program will involve the collection of around 355 stream sediment samples collected primarily across the Mt Roe Basalt (Figure 1). Samples of conglomerate will also be collected where discovered.

In addition, Macarthur Minerals will undertake additional sampling across the Mt Roe Basalt on the adjacent E45/4764, which it has an option to acquire (Figure 1).

Assays are expected to be available within the next few weeks and will be reported as they become available.

Koersen van Pilbara-aandelen zijn flink gedaald, de correctie is wel erg pittig, bijna al mijn winst is alweer verdampt. Denk dat het mede te maken heeft met berichten waarin Novo een bubble wordt genoemd. Als Artemis nog verder daalt ga ik misschien mijn positie verdubbelen.
