In his eye-popping press conference last week, White House Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said that the Trump administration withheld military aide from Ukraine in part to secure cooperation with a Justice Department investigation into the origins of Robert Mueller’s Russia probe. But a former top U.S. envoy to Ukraine has said the DOJ never actually asked the White House for that help.

Mulvaney has since tried to walk back his claim, saying the administration only held up military aid to Ukraine because of the country’s corruption and because other countries weren’t giving more aid as well. But the fact that his initial version of events differed so far from the testimony of another main player in the Ukraine saga highlights the White House’s struggle to defend itself.

During his congressional deposition earlier this month, former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said that the Trump administration’s Department of Justice never officially asked Ukrainian law enforcement for help probing 2016 election interference or the company where Hunter Biden was a board member, according to sources familiar with what Volker said. Trump himself asked Ukraine’s president to scrutinize that company, Burisma, according to a memorandum of their conversation. But Volker has said that to his knowledge the Justice Department never officially made its own ask.

en voor het geval dat u dacht dat de tweet enig hout snijdt, neen, ieder detail is idioot.
Het Huis kan nu al een President 'impeachen' met een kleine mererheid (zie Clinton). Er is geen 'due process' in dit stadium, da tkomt in de Senaat. In de Senaat 'rechtszaak' heeft de Pres allerlei rechten, due process etc.

Maar blijkbaar hebben de republikeinen besloten hun kudde valse voorlichting te geven en liegen alle 'leiders' glashard hetzelfde refrein.

Ziek.

Dus als hij due process wil, is stoppen met blokkades een goed idee, dan kunnen we de feiten voorleggen aan het publiek middels een openbare hoorzitting in de Senaat. En dan mag hij voordat alle getuigen hun verhaal doen zelf komen uitleggen wat hij denkt dat er gebeurd is....

Om 1 of andere reden is dat blijkbaar toch niet zo populair bij de rando-repugnicunts.

WASHINGTON — Nearly three years into President Trump’s aggressive efforts to undermine the Affordable Care Act, prices for the most popular type of health insurance plan offered through the health law’s federal marketplace will actually drop next year, and the number of insurers offering plans will go up.

Premiums rose sharply in the final years of the Obama administration, as Trump officials like to point out, largely because of losses insurers suffered as they tried to gauge the health needs of their new customers. But after Mr. Trump and Republicans in Congress tried unsuccessfully to repeal the law in 2017, the president took a number of steps to weaken it, all of which led to uncertainty that resulted in insurers raising prices.

Now, a correction is taking place. Some of the states with the biggest premium increases this year, including Delaware and North Dakota, will see the biggest decreases in 2020. There will be 20 more insurers selling plans next year in the federal marketplace, which is used by people in 38 states, bringing the total to 175. That will be the largest number of issuers since 2016. Only two states, Delaware and Wyoming, will have a single insurer selling plans under the law next year, compared with five states currently.

Asked about the court case seeking to invalidate the health law, Mr. Azar said a ruling in the plaintiffs’ favor would not change anything immediately because the defenders of the law would appeal to the Supreme Court.

“Our message would be, ‘Keep calm and carry on,’ ” Mr. Azar said. “There will be no immediate disruption to anybody. We will run the program the day after such a ruling the same way we ran the program the day before.”

je moet je toch in behoorlijke bochten wringen om te verdedigen dat je pogingen Obamacare de nek om te draaien niet hebben geleid tot hogere premies, en daarna zeggen dat een eventuele Supreme Court Ruling die Obamacare kan beëindigen (zonder alternatief!) niet ter zake doet.
