LogicaCMG joins forces with Oracle to offer customer unique BPO Service
24 September 2007
HR and payroll market leaders partner to provide premium service on a ‘pay-as-you-go’ basis to UK organisations

LogicaCMG, one of Europe’s leading IT and business services companies and Oracle, the world’s largest enterprise software vendor, today announced the signing of an agreement that will see LogicaCMG offer Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM) as part of its own outsourced HR & payroll service.

Through the partnership, organisations that select LogicaCMG as their HR & payroll service provider will benefit from Oracle being deployed in a ‘software as a service’ fashion, on a ‘pay-as-you-go’ basis - removing the need to pay the traditional, upfront software licence fee and any ongoing maintenance.

The launch of this innovative BPO service partnership by two market leaders is the first of its kind in the UK. It will give many private and public sector organisations the opportunity to change the way they deliver HR and payroll services to their employees.

The agreement allows organisations to take advantage of HR and payroll services that run on Oracle applications. Users will also benefit from ongoing savings achieved through a volume-based service model.

LogicaCMG will provide a broad range of HR and payroll services run on Oracle software, spanning traditional bureau payroll with integrated HR, through to fully-managed payroll and HR transactional processes, such as joiners & leavers, employee changes and absence administration.

The deal will provide a range of benefits to UK organisations that are looking at outsourcing payroll and HR processes run on an Oracle platform. These include:

Flexible pricing model – the customer pays one price per employee, which covers all payroll and HR services relating to that individual,
Single service contract – there is no longer a need for multiple vendor selection and management as all services and software solutions can be channelled through LogicaCMG,
Highly competitive pricing – the customer can take advantage of the service at significantly reduced prices as the pricing structure is based on volume discounts calculated for thousands of customers and millions of employees,
Maintenance of best practice and current technology – by offering the Oracle software as a service customers will be ‘future-proofed’ and benefit from the advantages of ongoing Oracle developments,
Reduced cost of maintenance, upgrades and compliance - as the customer does not own the software, there is no need to invest in maintenance and upgrades to ensure compliance,
Upgrade path to Oracle Fusion Applications: LogicaCMG can provide a migration path for companies that run Peoplesoft, or JD Edwards for HR and wish to create an upgrade path to Oracle Fusion Applications; ensuring the service is up and running quickly and smoothly.
Vince Smallhorne, Director of Applications Business Development from Oracle commented:

“The new partnership with LogicaCMG means that organisations can now secure leading HR and payroll solutions and outsourced services without needing to invest in upfront licence costs and set up work. We understand our customers’ changing business needs and as their strategies evolve we want to provide them with more choice, improved software and service levels at lower costs, thereby ensuring success for the future.”

Patricia Taylor, Director of LogicaCMG’s HR and Payroll business in the UK, commented:

“As both LogicaCMG and Oracle have proven track records in the HR and payroll market, this agreement offers a powerful solution of complimentary services and software and real value for money to end-users. We want to ensure that our customers receive a service that fits with their IT strategy and guarantees an excellent ROI. We are delighted to be working with Oracle on such a groundbreaking BPO deal that looks set to revolutionise the HR and payroll market in the UK.”

LogicaCMG provides payroll outsourcing and HR services to more than 850 organisations, across a range of platforms including SAP, Oracle and the company’s own developed solutions.

LogicaCMG awarded operations and knowledge management contracts for space exploration programme, Aurora
25 September 2007
LogicaCMG, one of Europe’s leading IT and business services companies, today announces that it has been awarded two parallel contracts to support operations and knowledge management for the European Space Agency’s (ESA’s) Aurora programme. The contracts have been awarded by two of the prime contractors for the programme; Carlo Gavazzi Space SpA and Rheinmetall Italia SpA..

ESA’s Aurora programme was initiated in 2001 to create, and then implement, a long-term European plan for the robotic and human exploration of the solar system, with Mars, the Moon and the asteroids as primary targets.

The contracts will see LogicaCMG taking ownership of the Operations elements of both the “planetary surface” architecture (Carlo Gavazzi) and the “in-space” architecture (Rheinmetall Italia). LogicaCMG will be assisting ESA’s team in defining the systems architecture for both segments and developing a knowledge management sub-architecture.

The award of both contracts to LogicaCMG is expected to provide significant synergy and interoperability across the two segments. The “matrix” approach LogicaCMG is taking to the knowledge management sub-architecture will cut across several different parts of the Aurora programme allowing them to be developed in unison, which is expected to result in improved efficiency and safety for subsequent missions.

The work being done draws heavily on best practice and lessons learned from the defence industry, and in particular the UK Ministry of Defence’s aerial and space reconnaissance programme, DABINETT, the concept phase of which LogicaCMG currently leads. Like Aurora, the DABINETT programme requires a system-of-systems approach in order to integrate a mix of legacy programmes.

Today’s announcement coincides with one of the space industry’s most significant forums, the 58th International Astronautical Congress. LogicaCMG will join many of its space industry partners at this year’s event in Hyderabad, India, where the future of Space Exploration will lead the conference agenda.

Stuart Martin, Director of Space and Satcoms at LogicaCMG, commented: “ESA has set industry a formidable challenge to create an ambitious but realistic vision for future exploration missions. We believe that by providing our two immediate clients, and ultimately ESA, with a ‘knowledge sub-architecture’ to ensure all of these functional elements work in harmony, we will be making a very significant contribution to the programme.”

LogicaCMG’s Bridge-it platform gives mobile operators a clearer view

26 September 2007,

LogicaCMG has developed a new solution that makes it easier for mobile operators to provide customer care, self-care and promotions across their entire customer base.

The Bridge-it platform provides a single integration point between a mobile operator’s accounting, billing and customer support systems and the Intelligent Network (IN) infrastructure used to deliver services. It speeds up and simplifies the delivery of customer self-care, life-cycle management, business intelligence and promotions – all of which help operators reduce customer churn and raise average revenue per user (ARPU).

Bridge-it also helps operators reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). Many of them have installed a range of different IN networks from different vendors, most of which use different technology protocols and standards. Bridge-it can integrate these systems or replace them, enabling operators to retire old equipment and save on software licenses and support fees. LogicaCMG has already helped mobile operators shut down more than 160 such systems.

“The challenge for operators is to break down the vertical, silo-based barriers among IN systems and integrate their separate customer-viewing systems into a single one,” says Johan Bergh, managing director of LogicaCMG’s Swedish Telecoms and Media division. “Bridge-it does exactly that. It features robust, open interfaces that facilitate the integration of diverse platforms with both pre-paid and post-paid systems. It’s also an ideal enabler for generating additional revenues.”

Bridge-it provides a business-level XML interface towards operators’ BSS platforms, enabling simple integration whichever IN systems are used to serve pre-paid customers. It offers a vital tool for developing a unified customer care system that gives operators a single ‘view’ of users, regardless of whether the subscriber is pre-paid or post-paid.

The Bridge-it platform uses industry standards and can be used to provide a closer connection between operators’ BSS and OSS systems and other key business processes handled by separate ERP systems.

LogicaCMG supplies stand-alone ‘cartridges’, pre-integrated with Bridge-it. These include a Call History Server that can provide pre-paid customer call information; a Promotions Server that increases the speed and flexibility with which marketing departments can launch new customer offers; and a Business Intelligence engine that can be used to analyse subscriber behaviour and provide management reports.

IDC Sees Growing Consolidation at High End of Western European IT and Business Services Industry

MADRID, September 25, 2007 — According to a recent study published by IDC, the services market has seen more consolidation of service players during 2006. The market share of the top 10 service vendors in Western Europe increased slightly from 33.3% in 2005 to 33.5% in 2006. The growing consolidation of the market will keep the largest players in a strong position, and help them continue to win more of the midsize deals at the expense of smaller players.

During 2006, the top 10 fastest-growing companies in the European services market were all from different categories:

LogicaCMG, a pan-European service player, entered the top 10 and climbed to eighth position with 52.8% growth in revenues during 2006. The firm's acquisition of Unilog and WM-Data has strengthened its European presence and extended its range of offerings in areas such as healthcare and retail.

Non-traditional services vendors such as Dell and Oracle. Oracle grew 23% due to organic growth in the consulting area and thanks to the acquisition of Siebel and other smaller firms in 2006. In the last few years, Dell has increased its focus on services as a consequence of the constant decrease in hardware prices and margin, reaching 21.4% growth in revenues.

Telco players such as France Telecom grew 22% in CY06, reflecting the impact of the transfer to enterprise communication services of the enterprise's switching activities that were previously attached to home communication services.

Local players such as EDB and Ordina have been growing fast through acquisitions in their geographical areas (the Nordics and the Netherlands respectively). EDB, which was already the leading player in the Norwegian outsourcing market, significantly grew its Swedish presence in 2006, with the acquisition of Guide Konsult, Drop IT, and Datarutin helping it to double annual sales in the region.

India-based Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys continued their aggressive double-digit revenue growth, with rates of 41.7% and 37.9% respectively. TCS won a big IT outsourcing deal with global financial services Citigroup. These offshore companies continue to win in the application development and maintenance areas primarily, but have also won some more complex application management deals, and are beginning to be found in the infrastructure area as well.

"Indian-origin companies are very quickly gaining presence in the services landscape, while their acceptance in Western Europe is increasing," said Laura Converso, senior analyst in the European Services Market and Competitive Insights program.

IDC's study, Top 50 Western European Service Players in 2006 (IDC #Q06P, August 2007), provides a competitive analysis of the high end of the Western European IT and business services industry. It presents an overview of the competitive landscape for services companies, examines trends and changes in the marketplace, and helps provide a quantifiable view of the European IT and business services providers.

Belgian online banking lanscape transformed by Isabel Zoomit
01 October 2007
Designed by Isabel in conjunction with LogicaCMG, Zoomit to represent more than three million users in Belgium

Isabel NV today announced that since the introduction of its Zoomit application at SIBOS 2006 in Sydney, Australia, the solution has now been implemented by the majority of major banks in Belgium. Zoomit now has the reach to service 82% of the Belgian EBPP market which represents more than 3 million users.

The application was developed by Isabel in conjunction with LogicaCMG, a major international force in IT and business services. Zoomit is an e-invoice and document gateway service, designed to improve and streamline e-banking capabilities for consumers and businesses. It was designed as an add-on to existing internet banking portals and consolidates all financial information, including invoices, payments, contracts and payslips into a comprehensive, secure and easily accessible online banking service.

Christian Luyten, Corporate Communications Officer of Isabel commented: “91% of consumers selected internet banking as their preferred portal to access electronic invoices and payslips. Banks understood this demand from the market and were very eager to integrate Zoomit into their internet banking portals. Today, 10 banks are currently in the process of integrating Zoomit. Dexia, Fortis, KBC and Crédit Agricole are already using the system.

“Banks are under increased pressure to service their customers better, to decrease their costs and to avoid disintermediation by new competition in the market. Zoomit is the perfect tool to attract more users to internet banking by creating sticky content on the bank portal. And what is working so well for Belgium is now ready to be rolled out into Europe.” explains Martin Dieussaert, Managing Director Financial Services Division from LogicaCMG

LogicaCMG joins SWIFT SEPA testing programme to help industry prepare for SEPA
01 October 2007
LogicaCMG, a major international force in IT and business services, announced today that it had joined forces with SWIFT to help the European financial services industry prepare for the implementation of the Single European Payments Area (SEPA) next year and beyond.

There are two major challenges for the industry in the run up for the introduction of SEPA. One is ensuring that each participant has tested its systems to be compliant with the European Payments Council (EPC) issued rulebooks and requirements. The other is to address the wider issue of testing the entire payment environment across multiple channels, payment instruments and multiple clearing & settlement infrastructures to accommodate SEPA and the numerous other changes in progress in European payments

SWIFT is addressing the first challenge through its SEPA Testing Programme by helping customers to reduce their testing effort by offering an integrated, consistent and single approach for the “core” SEPA standards compliance testing. In particular, SWIFT’s Simulation Testing and Qualification Service (STaQS) tests compliance with the “core” SEPA schemes with pre-defined sets of mandatory and optional test cases. The service allows participants to test at their own pace as it is a standalone service available 24/7.

LogicaCMG, already a market leader in the provision of testing services and payments, is addressing the second challenge through a payments version of its TestFrame™ methodology. This is based on LogicaCMG’s close involvement in the development of the SEPA programme and detailed understanding of the payments industry. These have has been combined with TestFrame™ to enable banks to achieve cost effective end-to-end testing and to mitigate risks during the implementation process.

Both organisations see these services as complementary and will work together for the industry to provide a complete payments testing service for SEPA and the broader payments world.

Lázaro Campos, Chief Executive Officer of SWIFT said, “The industry will be best served, in terms of cost and risk reduction, by a single SEPA reference testing platform for the basic interoperability testing. STaQS is uniquely positioned to provide this single SEPA reference testing platform for the industry and we welcome LogicaCMG’s decision to embed SWIFT's STaQS in their overall testing solution.”

“LogicaCMG’s testing methodology and services already contribute to many successful projects within the financial services community. Combining the basic SWIFT testing service with our deep understanding of the SEPA testing rulebook within our end to end testing offering, provides the banking community with the most effective and lowest risk approach to SEPA testing and readiness, ” added Lode Snykers, Managing Director of Global Financial Services at LogicaCMG.

SAP Integration Package for SWIFT Solves Complex Electronic Payment
Problems Faced by Many Multinational Corporations

BOSTON, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- To accelerate the adoption of
electronic payments and reduce the cost of connectivity between a
corporation's financial management systems and its banks, SAP AG (NYSE:
SAP) today announced the scheduled worldwide availability of SAP(R)
Integration Package for SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial
Telecommunication)-a standardized software solution that enables SAP(R) ERP
to communicate directly with SWIFTNet, the IP-based messaging platform
connecting nearly 8,100 financial institutions in 208 countries and
territories. The solution, which is part of the second enhancement package
for SAP ERP, will be generally available at the end of 2007. The SAP
Integration Package for SWIFT, which is currently being piloted by several
customers, including Volkswagen and Wurth, combines a corporation's
multiple complex electronic banking interfaces into a single, integrated
solution that reduces complexity, support requirements and associated
costs. The announcement was made at Sibos, the world's premier financial
services event, being held in Boston, October 1-5.
(Logo: www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050310...
SAP Integration Package for SWIFT immediately solves the challenge
faced by many multinational corporations that exchange electronic
information with banks in different countries and continents. On average,
corporations must maintain as many as 10 separate proprietary electronic
bank integrations to transfer financial information between their banks and
the company's financial applications. These systems may use widely
different protocols and data formats, which often results in an
overwhelming amount of system complexity and maintenance requirements that
drive up the costs of electronic banking for corporations.
SAP has created a unified offering that combines multiple, non-standard
bank integrations into a single, standards-based access point for managing
a company's electronic communications with its multiple banks. This
comprehensive corporate-to-bank connectivity can help companies streamline
payment flows, gain real-time visibility into global cash positions,
strengthen regional compliance and provide highly secure financial
transactions, all with greatly reduced costs.
"Through SWIFTNet, SAP ERP provides its customers with a single,
secure, standardized and reliable communication platform with the banking
community," said Luc Meurant, head of Corporate Access Programme of SWIFT.
"This will help corporations gain better visibility into their funds,
reduce complexity and increase straight through processing. SAP Integration
Package for SWIFT is a major catalyst in accelerating the adoption of
SWIFTNet by corporations. We look forward to continuing success with SAP."
Banks will benefit from this standardized framework as well. Fewer
proprietary integrations should result in lower IT maintenance costs for
banks. At the same time, banks can offer more sophisticated value-added
services for their customers and cross-sell additional services, increasing
their wallet share with corporate customers. With this announcement, SAP
also unveiled a service offering to help banks implement the new SAP-SWIFT
connectivity technologies for corporate clients (see October 1, 2007 press
release titled, "SAP Launches Corporate-to-Bank Connectivity Service

Businesses are Ready for SAP Integration Package for SWIFT
Cross-industry acceptance of SAP Integration Package for SWIFT has been
building for some time as customers demand more robust and standardized
electronic communications between their financial management systems and
their banks.
"SAP Integration Package for SWIFT has streamlined our banking
communications into a single, efficient channel that makes payments and
deposits to our accounts simple and direct," said Claus Wild of Wurth.

Aktiengesellschaft, noted, "The integration between SAP and SWIFT is a
logical next step in building a more efficient financial ecosystem between
corporate customers and their banks. This technology will allow Volkswagen
to achieve a global approach connecting banks worldwide and provide the
company with a scaleable platform for all the Volkswagen entities. In
addition, SAP Integration Packages for SWIFT provides an ideal way to
manage transactions initiated on SAP ERP and then format them for
transmission via the SWIFT network. We will also deploy the SAP Bank
Relationship Management application on top of SAP Integration Package for
SWIFT to obtain a high degree of control and end-to-end automation of
electronic payment processes."
"Today's announcement heralds the alignment between the SAP ERP
application and the SWIFT community," said Tobias Dosch, senior vice
president ERP application solution management, SAP. "Overall, this
partnership provides more economical electronic payment solutions to our
customers and deepens SAP's commitment to supporting electronic payment
standards and to the banking industry."

LogicaCMG delivers SEPA compliant payments platform for major European bank
02 October 2007
LogicaCMG, a major international force in IT and business services, has delivered LAPS High Volume, a full featured Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) compliant payments platform for a major European bank. The system was delivered and customer testing commenced in June 2007, well ahead of the 2008 SEPA deadline.

This early delivery will allow the bank to complete its comprehensive testing and integration with its own systems in a timely fashion. This enables the bank to go to market with a SEPA capability ahead of its competitors, facilitating the capture of new business from the emerging SEPA payments market.

The system provides full support for all requirements defined by the SEPA rulebooks – both for SEPA Credit Transfers and SEPA Direct Debits. LAPS High Volume offers EBA STEP 2 and other European CSM connectivity as well as multi-bank capabilities which provide a sound platform for the provisioning of Additional Optional Services (AOS).

Scalability of the new platform is crucial when full SEPA migration is completed by the end of 2010. Banks need to be sure that their SEPA solution scales in line with the business volume predicted for SEPA .LAPS High Volume has been benchmarked at sustained rate of 20 million transactions per hour to fulfil this need.

Jerry Norton, director strategy, global financial services at LogicaCMG commented: "The imposition of SEPA and the standardisation that it brings provides a clear opportunity and a business case for the rationalisation of retail payments processing. This allows the retail payment business to catch up with the rationalisation of wholesale and international payments processing which has been underway for some years. LogicaCMG now has an offering in LAPS to address all payments processing irrespective of the value, source or type of payment."

QUMAS and LogicaCMG Forge Partnership to Offer Comprehensive Governance, Risk and Compliance Solutions

Arrangement Will Provide Companies Worldwide With Greater Access to QUMAS Technology and Consolidate GRC Programs Onto a Single Framework

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - October 2, 2007) - Sibos Conference -- QUMAS, the leading provider of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) solutions, today announced a strategic partnership with LogicaCMG, a major international force in IT and business services. Under the terms of the agreement, LogicaCMG will offer the complete QUMAS portfolio of GRC solutions to its customers across a range of vertical industries.

The agreement expands the reach of QUMAS GRC solutions, capitalizing on its success to date in the life sciences and financial services industries. Through LogicaCMG's worldwide presence, QUMAS will gain increased exposure to a wide range of vertical markets. Based on a single consolidated framework that provides an enterprise-wide ability to manage GRC, QUMAS offers the only fully integrated approach to GRC, regardless of industry.

After several years of rising compliance management burdens, companies remain under pressure to comply with increasingly more formal, definitive and frequent disclosures to regulators. The emphasis now is on four primary objectives: sustaining an effective framework that manages risk & meets obligations; managing emerging changes in regulation and in business operations; reducing the cost and impact of compliance and assuring proper; accurate disclosure. LogicaCMG has the methodology which enables organizations to build the sustainable framework.

Compliance is a central issue for executives and a primary focus of managers across nearly all facets of operations. Manual controls are the most expensive and least sustainable method to achieve this compliance. The automation of controls and linking monitoring and validation to business processes is more sustainable and more cost effective over the long run -- QUMAS is the answer to these challenges.

"In response to the constantly evolving regulatory climate, our existing and prospective customers have been increasingly requesting GRC service-based offerings," said Lode Snykers, Managing Director, Global Financial Services, LogicaCMG. "With its domain expertise and history of delivering comprehensive solutions that simplify GRC management for the Chief Compliance Officer, QUMAS is the perfect company to meet this need. Our customers will benefit from having an out-of-the-box GRC solution that is both customizable and scalable to meet any business need."

At Sibos 2007 experts from both companies will be on hand at the LogicaCMG stand G23 to discuss how global organizations can benefit from a consistent approach and high-level framework to manage risk and controls.

By consolidating an enterprise's GRC initiatives into a single framework, companies can eliminate the cost of managing disparate and isolated applications.

"Similar to QUMAS, LogicaCMG has worked with global institutions for more than a decade, and has decades of experience selling business consulting, systems integration and IT services," said Kevin O'Leary, CEO of QUMAS. "This agreement exponentially extends our market reach while providing many of the world's best-known brands with an auditable and holistic view of compliance that will serve as the system of record for any company needing to met the demands of any regulatory body."
