Ex-Fox News Star Ed Henry Accused of Rape in Brutal New Lawsuit

In addition to Henry’s alleged violent sexual misconduct, the lawsuit also claims sexual harassment by Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Howard Kurtz, and Gianno Caldwell.

A former Fox News reporter and associate producer, along with a frequent guest on the network, have leveled brutal and disturbing sexual-assault allegations against former host Ed Henry as well as harassment allegations against current on-air talent like hosts Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Howard Kurtz.

In the complaint, filed Monday in New York federal court, former Fox News producer Jennifer Eckhart alleged that Henry—the long-time Fox reporter and host of America’s Newsroom who was fired earlier this month for what the network called “willful sexual misconduct”—raped and assaulted her and “performed sadistic acts on her without her consent that left her injured, bruised and battered with bloody wrists.”

“What this lawsuit reveals is that today’s Fox News is the same old Fox News,” said attorney Douglas Wigdor in announcing the lawsuit’s filing. “Some of the names in leadership may have changed since Roger Ailes’ regime, but Fox News’ institutional apathy towards sexual misconduct has not.”

According to the complaint, Eckhart alleged that Henry, who is married, “groomed, psychologically manipulated and coerced” her into a sexual relationship in which he referred to her as his “sex slave.” Additionally, the lawsuit claimed, “when she would not comply voluntarily, [Henry] sexually assaulted her on office property, and raped her at a hotel where Fox News frequently lodged its visiting employees.”

Tucker Carlson had enige dagen geleden al aangekondigd om vakantie te nemen. Dit kwam kort na problemen over racisme.
Gezien deze rechtszaak zou het niet onwaarschijnlijk zijn dat Sean Hannity ook maar een paar weken "op vakantie"gaat.

Trump zet onherkenbare paramilitairen in bij demonstraties in Portland: 'Een bizar verschijnsel'

Een nieuw fenomeen afgelopen week in de straten van de Amerikaanse stad Portland, in de staat Oregon. In camouflagepak gehulde bewapende manschappen die hardhandig demonstraties neerslaan en mensen oppakken. "Een bizar verschijnsel."

In Portland gaan al weken demonstranten de straat op om te protesteren tegen politiegeweld. De aanleiding is de dood van George Floyd. De ordetroepen werden twee weken geleden naar Portland gestuurd door Donald Trump om monumenten en gebouwen in de stad te beschermen.

'Een bizar verschijnsel'

"Het zijn agenten van de Homeland Security Department, het nationale veiligheidsministerie dat is opgericht na 9/11", vertelt Amerika-kenner Frans Verhagen. "Ze komen daar zonder naamplaatjes en zonder identificeerbaar te zijn. Eigenlijk om federale eigendommen te beschermen, maar ze doen veel meer dan de bedoeling was en arresteren ook mensen."

Verhagen verbaast zich over de troepenmacht dat onder federaal bewind valt. "Het is een bizar verschijnsel dat paramilitaire troepen optreden die onder het gezag staan van Het Witte Huis zonder dat de lokale autoriteiten daarmee ingestemd hebben. Dit zou niet moeten kunnen in Amerika."

Excessief geweld

Ondertussen worden de demonstranten hard aangepakt door de paramilitairen. Zo is er al een demonstrant zwaargewond geraakt door geweld van de troepen en worden er mensen afgevoerd in voertuigen die ook niet te herkennen zijn.

Burgers vragen zich af wie het zijn, de burgemeester van Portland heeft ze in ieder geval niet uitgenodigd en de gouverneur van Oregon is woedend. Het lokale bestuur en ook de staat Oregon zitten niet te wachten op een nieuw soort geheime dienst onder bewind van Donald Trump.

Mediastrategie

Tot nu toe roepen de troepen alleen maar meer agressie op bij de demonstraties. De burgemeester van Portland, Ted Wheeler denkt dat Trump de troepen vooral inzet voor zijn peilingen. "Dit maakt deel uit van de mediastrategie van het Witte Huis: federale troepen gebruiken om Trumps peilingen op te krikken."

En de senator van Oregon Jeff Merkley, zei eerder al dat Trump "het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken als hun eigen bezettingsmacht inzetten."

Verkiezingsnederlaag

Het doet Verhagen terugdenken aan de situatie in de Amerikaanse staat Michigan. "Toen daar de lockdown werd uitgeroepen vanwege corona, zag je direct protesten van mensen met geweren die ook enige tijd het Congres bezetten."

Een situatie die Verhagen zo weer voor zich ziet als Trump inderdaad de verkiezingen zou verliezen. "Trump heeft zichzelf zo vastgezet in zijn eigen ideeën, dat hij nergens anders meer voor openstaat", aldus de Amerika-kenner. "Een burgeroorlog zoals in 1860 zie ik niet meteen voor me, maar een vorm van onrust dat kan dan zomaar gebeuren."

Staatsgreep?

"Het is ook de vraag wat Trump straks gaat doen als hij de verkiezingen zou verliezen. Er is de vrees dat hij dit soort troepen dan ook in gaat zetten. In een interview heeft Trump al gezegd dat hij een verkiezingsnederlaag niet zonder meer zal accepteren", zegt Verhagen.

Over een staatsgreep en een burgeroorlog wordt in de Verenigde Staten inmiddels openlijk gesproken. "Een staatsgreep verwacht ik niet; het leger zal zich naar verwachting niet volledig achter Trump scharen bij een verkiezingsnederlaag."

Als Donald Trump Satan is, dan is Lindsey Graham de man die opstaat en Satan een pakje sigaretten geeft, om een regel uit The West Wing te parafraseren. Met zijn verkiezingsuitslagen heeft Trump uiteindelijk besloten om zich vandaag, enkele maanden te laat om er nog iets toe te doen, te promoten een foto met een masker op. Nu speelt Graham cheerleader - en laten we zeggen dat het niet werkt.

Lindsey Graham kreeg uiteindelijk meer negatief commentaar dan hij wil - een betrouwbare aanwijzing dat het publiek een bepaalde tweet grondig heeft afgewezen. Graham blijft opstaan voor zijn voortdurende steun aan Donald Trump, en als dit zo doorgaat, kunnen ze allebei in november verliezen. Graham's Democratische tegenstander is Jaime Harrison. Toen Michael Cohen eerder deze maand terug naar de gevangenis werd gebracht, werd hem naar verluidt verteld dat hij alleen uit de gevangenis kon blijven als hij een document ondertekende waarin hij ermee instemde om zijn verraderlijke boek over Donald Trump niet te publiceren. In die tijd voorspelde Palmer Report dat Cohen juridische stappen zou ondernemen op basis van het feit dat zijn terugkeer naar de gevangenis politiek gemotiveerd was.

Zeker genoeg, rapporteerde Rachel Maddow vanavond in de lucht dat Michael Cohen kostuum tegen Donald Trump's Procureur-generaal Bill Barr heeft ingediend, bewerend dat Barr Cohen terug in de gevangenis zette om te proberen hem van het publiceren van zijn boek te houden. Gezien hoe duidelijk het is wat er hier aan de hand is, en het feit dat er blijkbaar een papieren spoor in het spel is, heeft Cohen een grote kans om te winnen.

Natuurlijk gaat het er niet alleen om of Michael Cohen in de gevangenis blijft. Hij heeft al getweet dat zijn boek in wezen af is, en dat hij verwacht dat het in september zal verschijnen. Cohen's handlers kunnen doorgaan en het boek publiceren, of hij nu opgesloten zit of niet. En zoals we hebben gezien met Mary Trump, John Bolton en anderen, heeft Donald Trump geen mogelijkheid om op magische wijze de publicatie van een boek tegen te houden.

Lawsuit Challenges Trump Administration Order Opening Public Lands to Coal Leasing

A coalition of states, conservation organizations and the Northern Cheyenne Tribe have launched a new challenge to the Trump administration’s decision to open millions of acres of public land to new coal leasing and mining. Complaint, filed in US District Court in Great Falls in Montana challenges the administration’s findings that the federal coal-leasing program does not cause significant environmental harm and asks the court to reinstate the moratorium on new coal leasing.

That 2017 decision ended an Obama-era leasing moratorium that had protected public lands from new coal strip mines, and protected the water, air and climate from coal-mining pollution. In April 2019 a federal judge ruled that the decision to end the moratorium broke the law because the administration failed to evaluate the environmental harm. The Trump administration attempted to remedy that violation by releasing a widely criticized environmental assessment. The assessment looked at only four coal leases that the Bureau of Land Management had already issued and concluded the leases did not cause any significant harm to the environment. The assessment did not consider the bureau’s other coal-leasing activities over the 570-million-acre federal mineral estate, which contains approximately 255 billion tons of mineable coal.

In January 2016 the Obama administration ordered a moratorium on new coal-leasing to allow time to reform the federal program to protect the climate and American taxpayers. In just the first stage of that review, the Interior Department found that coal mining fouls the air, pollutes streams and destroys wildlife habitat on public land. Past estimates found that than one-tenth of all US greenhouse gas emissions, the pollution driving climate change, come from federal coal.

The mining and burning of coal from public lands imposes heavy air-quality and public-health costs through emissions of nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, particulate matter and mercury. Scientists have called on the United States to stop new coal leasing to help prevent the most catastrophic impacts of climate change.
